How did you come up with the 16 + 9 over the 4 + 3 ? this confused the heck out of use!!!

He took square of both 4 and 3 (4)^2 means (4x4) and (3)^2 means (3x3). So 4x4 is 16 and 3x3 is 9

Convert both sides to either cm or mm (just choose) then perform it normally. Your answer is in the unit you chose in the first part
