I'm writing this to clear some confusion out of the way... HARM using POS EOM mode works very easy but there are several things you need to check. 1) Double Check that your RWR is in steady "s" mode (not blinking "s") 2) Check that your RWR is in Handoff more 3) Check that your RWR is in priority mode (it will make everything so much easier to see) 4) All you need to do basically is to disable the SA radar so 5) Place pre planned threat steer points (PPT) above the general vicinity in your map prior of starting the mission of where the SA battalion is located (dont worry for not being precise, because the missile will track the radar emissions, not your PPT) 6) Either note the PPT number or use HSD to select the PPT in game as shown in the video 7) Use POS to assign the correct SA number to the correct PPT steerpoint 8) WAIT! Until you see the number of the SAM flashing on your RWR (that means that you are actively peaking up the radar's signal / (and that one, yours)) 9) When you are in range and all the above are correct, fire away "MAGNUM!"

You could name your videos as Falcon BMS 4.33 or just Falcon BMS for better SEO. No one searches for Falcon 4 videos when looking for BMS content. Also, remove the [ ]'s. They just get in the way of SEO too. If it wasn't for the Forum I wouldn't have found this video. Great tutorial, btw! Thanks!

Pretty straightforward and informative tutorial. Its very good complement to BMS training manual. Thank you

RUK and PB are active and simulated in BMS 4.33. In RUK the HARM activates seeker right after launch. PB HARM activates seeker 15nm from SPI or SPT. EOM HARM activates 5nm from STP or SPI. EOM is the most accurate because of the distance in which the seeker becomes active. Just so you know you don't have to use pre plan target steerpoints. All you have to do is if you have a SAM pop up on you on the fly that wasn't in the briefing, just move the cursors on AG radar to move your SPI to appropriate distance, use HAS or HAD to get the distance and either use RUK or PB. If your distance is more than 25nm and it pops up on you, PB is the best mode. If its less than 15, RUK is the best mode. Also PPT Steerpoints is not realistic, IRL they don't do that. They have HTS that aids the pilot in firing the HARM. Even with the HTS they still can launch POS. How HTS works with HARM IRL is not known, so we won't know until devs know, if they get it right. EOM footprint is not that big so it needs to be precise as the size of the box is small. PB and RUK have a 120 degree foot print which is much much larger so the seeker can look further out left right and ahead with better FOV. Just check the manual, the graph with the different modes is there, and its simulated. At least down to the footprints its accurate. POS mode is the only mode I use when I SEAD or DEAD. HAD is too easy and way to simple. I'll let the novices have it. :P. Either way though you'll get hits, but with POS its very satisfying to kill a radar in POS mode. As far as HAS mode goes, since there is a certain distance you have to be in to see it in certain FOV's, I use that instead of HAD to give me a general direction and distance of the threat. Then all I'll do is just cursor enable to go back to POS mode, move the cursors out in front at 30 miles or so then select PB. Depending on the threat array and how many other SAM's are along the route of the same type usually dictates the appropriate mode to use to be the most effective. and once everything is good I pop up hard 30 degress (normally flying low altitude) and fire the HARM. Get the kill and hunt some more and then repeat the process and then go home. There is some fun to this if you exploit it. Flying low and dodging ground fire, setting a perimeter, attracting the right attention, then killing them. If shot at stay low, terrain mask and pick up the fun again. :D :D :D. Sorry to have written a book about this but this is how I do it, I just thought I'd share and let some one else try it different if they wanted.

All the instructions are great, but how do you set up the flight to match your clip? Wish someone would do a “Training clip” for the installed Training missions in BMS 4.33, nightmare for a beginner at the moment.
@supanova886 жыл бұрын
As I recall that is using the training mission, as are most of the tutorials.

This is a WAY better tutorial than the ones I've seen. Two questions tho, 1)what's the advantages of using POS and probably other modes like RUK, when I can simply lock and launch with HAD? 2) I remember seeing people using POS mode, and there's some sort of ideal pitch symbol that looks like '>
@supanova888 жыл бұрын
The only POS mode recommended is EOM. The other modes, including loft cues, are not properly implemented currently. The general idea is to use POS EOM with pre-planned static targets. HAS mode is used for targets of opportunity and mobile threats.

so is stpt 59 a predetermined point? can you fire the agm88 at not predetermined points in POS mode?
@supanova888 жыл бұрын
+Lovi's corner of awesome You can define a pre-planned target during the briefing, and you can also define a mark point in flight. POS mode requires these coordinates. Without coordinates you would use HAS mode.

Why did you use STP 59 and 56 was it preplanned? Or is it set in flight for targets
@supanova887 жыл бұрын
You would always place PPT's on SAMs. When the DTC is saved threat rings then appear on the HSD, which helps with situational awareness. Steerpoints can also be placed on the targets with Desired Mean Point of Impact set as desired. You can set Mark Points in flight, but that's another subject.

supanova ok on HARMs now and this is throwing me off a bit, the preplannrd stpt 56/59, is there another video that helps in setting those up and how do you enter it in icp. I did the sidewinder and AIM-120 tutorials and did CCIP and CCRP and then switched to HARM but this new concept of pre planned stpt is throwing me off :(.
@aabhutta5 жыл бұрын
Never mind - 3rd time is a charm - I was getting mistaken by SA-3 handoff for second station - figures out how to put a threat stpt and how to enter it about 50 miles out, gave me enough time to configure every thing. Fired 2 HARM’s at the same SA-2 but first one was good enough, I fired the second one about 65 secs of flight timer just in case. But heck yeah it was fun , now going to try a SA-6 with the same approach let’s see how that goes

As I recalll it's either 7 or shift 7. The keys are listed under the view settings in setup.
