Hi! I face a similar problem with my recorder. I own a Sanyo TRC-570m Talkbook Handheld Microcassette Recorder. It is in working condition; it plays well, but has an issue with recording. Every time I hit record, it starts to record for a few seconds but then gets stuck. Mind you, the tape is empty, the batteries are fresh. The record button is pushed nice all the way in, but the tape doesn't roll. When I tap repeatedly on my recorder, it starts to move, but then again it stops after a while. There is likely a loose connection in there somewhere, but I have no idea how to fix it. Please help me.

Looks like you completely splashed acetone everywhere and removed some lettering and spotted up the buttons.

The dirt on the paper coming from the contacts likely is carbon deposits. There are automotive sprays to remove carbon deposits. I think that acetone can damage rubber. Please make an electronics schematics course for absolute beginners on Patreon, I would follow it.

I like the paper polishing solution. I think you are most likely correct on cleaning rubber with acetone. Some checking reveals it is NOT used for cleaning conveyor belts or other rubberized power transfer devices. I think the main damage is caused by drying out the pliable properties. MEK or petroleum's is no good either. alcohol (90%) is preferable ti harsher chemicals like Acetone & MEK.

@@ThePreyMantas I think that one of the safest way to clean rubber could be cleaning it with water and soap.

@@FulvioGa Ta, that's generally the safest method to start with from what I've read & experienced.
