Thank you!!! I just fixed my dishwasher for $32.60 for a genuine GE part and about 1/2 hour total, saving me the $950 my wife was about to spend on a new unit. Thanks again!!

Thank you for the video. I am incredibly un-handy and always get easily overwhelmed when faced with the prospect of having to fix anything at all. I'm thankful for KZbin. But I was actually able to do this, and now our heated dry works again! It was just as easy as the video implies. Thank you.

Thank you for the step by step! I changed out my part today and now my dishwasher is like new. I struggled with removing the old switch, but your close up shots helped so much. Really appreciate it!

Very helpful! We were able to clean ours out and put it back - and this was just the set of instructions we needed to do it successfully. Thank you!

Same here. Our washer stopped filling with water. Checked the water valve and it worked. Pulled the flood switch and gave it a good shake. Nothing. Gave it a washdown with hot water and got a good teaspoon of gunk out of it. Shook it again and you could hear the float rattling around in there like it's supposed to. Put it back in and all is well!!!

@@stevematda976 Our cleaning didn’t hold up long - we ended up having to buy a new flood switch after all. Still, it was a cheap fix and now it works better than ever!

Would a bad float switch allow the washer sound like it is trying to run, but not fill with any water at all when you try to start it?
@christygilbert5342 Жыл бұрын
@@mickjager5974 I think so! That's what happened with ours, anyway - it would run, but without any water. Replacing the flood switch completely fixed the issue for us.

How do you test that float switch to see if it is actually bad or not?
@markg999 Жыл бұрын
Wish they showed..guess if it floods its likely bad as it shouldn't do that.

Mine flooded a couple times and then the heat stopped working and a lot of forums I saw said to replace this for heat also. Just replaced mine I'll get back to if it works.

Can I use a multimeter to test the float? And if so, what pins?
@waveland0 Жыл бұрын
I saw a video but haven't tried. On the row with 4 pins it's the middle 2.

Maybe im blind but when i pull out the fine filter, there is nothing beneath it. Could my float be located elsewhere? The dishwasher is only 2 years old.

What should we do if there's pooling water in there that won't drain? Is it still safe to replace it or do we need to get all the water out first?
@PureLifeSurfSchool3 жыл бұрын
I had a bit of pooling water and I used some hand towels to soak it up prior to me swapping the float valve.
@wadesuhr2 ай бұрын
Suck all the water out first with a shop-vac otherwise get a beach towel and a 🪣 bucket.

The harnesss fell into the hole. How do I get it out??????
@FixDotCom2 жыл бұрын
That happens sometimes, if you remove the kick plate at the bottom of the dishwasher you should be able to see that harness and the hole it fell out of. Just push it back up thru and your all set.
