The ad I saw it in was from 1984. In 1985, GE sold its housewares division to Black and Decker and completely stopped selling fans (in North America anyway).

Oh wow that actually makes total sense, GE also sold smoke alarms during that time but around the mid 80's their models started being rebranded by Black & Decker. Thank you for helping solve that mystery 😃

@@BAFVintage you’re welcome. And in fact to this day Black and Decker still sells a few appliances that are old GE designs. In South America at least, GE was still making fans until they sold them to B&D in the mid 80s, and then B&D continued to make them under license as the GE brand, and eventually as the Black and Decker brand. The 5 blade Standard desk fans were one of the ones that were still being made there in the 80s, not sure about the box fans.
