GE Microwave Oven Comes on But Won't Produce Any Heat Fixed For $5.00 Model Number JVM1540SN1SS

GE Spacemaker® Over-the-Range Microwave Oven Model JVM1540SN1SS would come on but not heat up. So I did some trouble shooting and found a simple $5.00 door switch was the problem.
Also applies to many different brand names and models GE, General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA Sharp

Thank you Kevin for the video. In my case, it was the third switch located all the way at the bottom that caused the issue. It is back to normal function now after replacing it. Again, thank you for the video.

Where is the carbon filter on this particular microwave? I went looking for it (by removing the top vented piece) but I don't see a filter. Is it located somewhere else?

Search for a parts schematic for your model number. That will help

Seems like a lot of electrical going on. But it's hard to watch since you are holding the camera in one hand and demonstrating in another. May I suggest using a tripod with wheels to keep it steady. Very distracting to watch.

I took off the panel of a GE microwave model jvm1441wh04 and unplugged the wire clips. I was shocked by its fuse three times! OUCH!! Always keep it unplugged! Now when I thought I had put it back altogether right, the time, light, fan, clock, work but the microwave doesn’t move the turntable (Glass) anymore. I even turned even turned the fuse panel on and off but nothing. It was manufactured in November 2005 so I know it’s old but it was really good. Now sadly I have to buy a new one because I’m not a electrician! But I wonder why the microwave doesn’t turn now? I did wash the door hinges that unclip though. But that wouldn’t cause it! 🧐🧐 IDK 🤷‍♂️ What else to do?

The most common failure are the door switches sometimes they have as many as 3 so remove each door switch or at least unplug each door switch and test them individually and see if that is your problem it could just be a safety switch issue
