do you have a video of how to replace the glass on this model ?

@ABCMemphis. Thank you for the Video. I replaced my control panel but the touchpad is still not working. The ribbon is severely heat cracked by the connector and I believe that it is defective. Can't find one online. Do you know if the black connector comes off the ribbon? thinking maybe could be trimmed and reattached. Or if you have a source for the replacement Item? Any help would be gratefully accepted.
@ACBMemphis8 ай бұрын
No, I did not have to change any connectors... I found the part by Googling the oven, and a lot of the repair sites seem to have the same diagrams, from there that's how I found the specific part number. Maybe they will have the cable/board as well.. I just searched for "General Electric Oven Ribbon Cable Connector" and it looks like at least some cables do exist on Sears Parts Direct.

Same oven, same issue. I was hoping that you had a fix for this instead of replacing the $300 part. Darn it. Thanks for the video.
@ACBMemphis5 ай бұрын
You're welcome... Yes it was a pain to have to replace this expensive part, but a lot less than a new oven. The control panel is still working as of May 2024. Earlier this year the "beep" sound stopped, but that was fixed by simply taking the oven apart and tapping on the internal beeper speaker a few times...

@ACBMemphis did you reuse the panel you took off at 1:44-1:47? Trying to determine if it's the glass panel or the panel underneath that's the problem in mine.
@ACBMemphis8 ай бұрын
Yes, I re-used everything but the main glass part - in other words, I only ordered/replaced 1 part. It's still working today. Whenever we run this oven now, we always turn on the vent-a-hood fan to try to make sure it cools and the display does not fog up. I would definitely read through some of the comments here before ordering that expensive part... some have suggested cleaning with alcohol and others have had bad ribbon cables.
@other13428 ай бұрын
@@ACBMemphis Thank you. I saw the comment about denatured alcohol and conductive ink, but not sure where they are applying those? Ribbon cable is interesting, but one button is intermittent and one just never works, so I'm not sure.

I’ve got the same oven. Have you had any problems with it just turning off after it starts to heat up, seems like once it hits 250, it just completely shuts down.
@ACBMemphis2 жыл бұрын
We never had that problem, but once I noticed that the display could get "steamed up" by cooking things like bacon, I always made sure and turn on the vent fan above when I'm using it. It seems like a really bad design that overheats the electronics....

My GE Profile ps960sl5ss failed. I turned the breaker on and it lights up the display but shuts off.

I have this same oven with the same problem. What is the part number and how much did it cost you?
@ACBMemphis2 жыл бұрын
The part number is WB27T11380. Unfortunately it's about $700! However, when you start looking at the prices of new double ovens it is a lot cheaper to replace the part....
@Scifichick19962 жыл бұрын
@@ACBMemphis The part is now close to $900. Thinking of ordering it because I think the newer ovens aren't built as well anyway.

How did you determine that the touch pad was the part to replace instead of the control panel?
@ACBMemphis Жыл бұрын
The condition got worse over time, I was able to press "3" repeatedly for a while, and then not at all. Before I replaced the control panel, I tried with the panel loose pressing the front and back of the keypad at the same time, and eventually got it to work, so it seemed like the fault was in the keypad....

I have the same problem. How much was the part? Where do you find the part number to order?
@ACBMemphis Жыл бұрын
@@jeralynleydig It was about $700... which may not be worth it. Finding the part number was just the result of a lot of Googling. The part I ended up with was WB27T11380 - but I would double check your specific model with the sticker inside the door...
@jeralynleydig Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. It is well worth it for me to order as the oven was over 4k
@jeralynleydig Жыл бұрын
Called GE directly. Did not need full control panel only one for oven control as that is where the random buttons didn’t work. The rep actually gave a discount on the part and free shipping w/30 day no hassle refund! It was under $300!!!
@Mark4Jesus Жыл бұрын
I'm screwed, for my GE oven I need the plastic keypad part# WB27T11211, no longer being manufactured by GE. What's the point of buying a $3K GE oven and the wife bumps something hot on the front and it's unrepairable because they don't make it anymore. No more GE appliances for me.
@ACBMemphis Жыл бұрын
That stinks! For a $3K oven I might be tempted to check eBay or find an electrical engineer to repair it... Seems like appliances were expected to last longer in the past. I know people locally with late 1970s era houses, and the GE electric ovens that came with the houses are still working. On the other hand, I put in all new GE appliances in a 2013 remodel (fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher) and had to repair then replace them all by now, except for the oven in this video...
