Great video with simple fix! 4 weeks ago the ice maker on my 25 yr old GE fridge stopped making ice but the dispenser worked. So each day I filled up 6 ice cube trays and dumped them into the ice bin. I didn't want to buy a new ice maker for an old fridge. I finally called GE service but they wanted $99 to look at it. Then I saw this video! I turned the little screw and next morning the bin was full of ice. TY TY TY.

Watching the "manual" version of this video saved me a lot of time trying to disassemble and troubleshoot by myself. I had no idea about "service mode," probably because repair techs don't want me to know I can fix it myself in 10 seconds with a flat-head screwdriver.

Changed out an old fridge with no ice maker for a 1996 GE profile tfx25pr with ice maker, ice maker didn't do anything, so sad. Until I saw this video showing how to reset the manual ice maker. Works great, thanks.

Do you have to turn the water supply off to remove the icemaker or does pulling the plug inside the freezer cutoff the water from flowing?

(You shouldn't have to mess with the Water.) "Check to make sure the ice machine is in the, Turned off Position, then Unscrew, and unplug. (The Electric Solenoid controlling the water supply is located elsewhere in the fridge.) "You can see that at the 1:05 mark" There is no water pressure being held back by the ice maker, just a simple flow tube. "Without instructions from the ice maker, The Solenoid will remain in the closed position." You're good and goodluck! 🧊

Excuse the dumb question but how do you remove the front cover of the ice maker?

Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the screw-cover on the top. Unscrew the screw with a Phillips screwdriver, then, pry the bottom open.

My manual ice maker (exact same one) wouldn't go into service mode. Attempting to turn the small screw counter-clockwise is initially possible but gets progressively harder. At about a quarter turn, it wins and spins back to where it was on its own. No further cycling occurs. I had already replaced the valve, supply line, and filter after moving homes and over sediment concerns. Finally validated by both pouring water into the tray and shorting power to the valve to prove flow to the unit.

I tried jamming mine to the right (clockwise) and then left counterclockwise and that got it going. It cycled and filled with water. Waiting to see what happens next.

I'm having a problem removing the cover. It's not as easy as in the video. I found a tab at the bottom of the cover, but none at the top. I don't want to force the cover off and risk breaking it. Is there another catch that I can't find, or can I pull it off without breaking anything?

We have the mechanical version and if I turn it with a screw driver like in the video it will turn and end up making ice BUT it only Makes ice that one time it does not continue to do it unless I turn it with a screw driver but then again it only makes ice that 1 time. Any ideas how to fix this?

If you have the mechanical one, put a flat head in that little notch and slam it up. Don’t be gentle. There is a screw behind that.

Have a GE French door fridge with a wr30x10093 ice maker. Makes a ton of noise while making ice. Tried replacing the icemaker and it still makes the same noise. Any suggestions as to what to try next? Thank you

Unfortunately they are a cheap design and make noise due to the stick-slip motor drive mechanism.

It is 2021. After turning screw counterclockwise, the ice maker started up. I turned the ice water level 1/4 turn. An hour later, the whole ice bin was filled with water. It didn't stop. Uh-oh. Now what?

I have replaced my icemaker and the first issue I had was the water would overfill the unit and lets say double of what it should be. On this I do not know how to fix this setting. My model is the same as above with the On off switch. I have seen this video where it says that after installation to switch on the unit and Move the Paddle back and fourth THREE times to initialize the maker, well this did not fix the problem. Next the cover when removed shows a screw with a + and - direction that I guess represents the pressure on the rotating unit for the ice cubes, or how much water is needed to fill the ice bin. The problem is there are no instruction that cover these issues. I hope someone can help me out with this issue. At this time the ice maker makes ice, but takes too long to turn the cubes out. Now after I messed with the adjustment screw it does nothing yet.

I'd say probably unhook it, take to the sink, wash with dawn and a scrub brush but keep the side with electronics out of the water.
