I just purchased one of these remotes. I use cable TV, should I program the cable button first or the TV? I wanted to pair my Samsung sound bar and Insignia TV to this. I also have a evolution cable box that was recently installed. That cable box will not allow pairing of the soundbar that is why I got the GE remote in hopes of pairing the soundbar. My cable provider (Ritter) told me that the cbl would have to be programmed first. Is that true?

It shouldn't matter which one you program first, but I think you should program the TV first since you won't even be able to tune to the cable box if the TV isn't programmed. Nothing terrible can happen if you make a mistake. You can always reprogram this remote again and again. If you take the batteries out for 5 or so minutes, it will go back to factory state.

I had to take this remote back for refund. It will not pair to a evolution cable box. The box does not have a power on/off button so that makes it impossible to pair up. Other devices did pair i.e Insignia TV and Samsung sound bar. My cable company (Ritter) had recently replaced the Cisco cable boxes (which had a power on/off button to a Envision box (no power button) I got help from my cable company to program the older Phazer 5 remotes that were used for the older CIsco cbl boxes. Now the sound bar & TV and the new cable box are all paired up and work and the older Phazer 5 remote is also back lighted.
