I just recently got one and used it for mountain biking as well. So far it’s been great for me. I used it with my chest pad and don’t have the vibration issue. I’ve tested it in some pretty rough terrain and it stayed in place quite well. I shared some clips on my channel. I could however imagine also there would be vibration if it’s attached on the bike.
@jpmcghee3 жыл бұрын
Ya with the dynamic suspension of your body, vibration is probably reduced greatly. Still, it needs improvement. SnapMounts actually responded directly and agrees. Thanks for watching!!!

Hello, how is the mount holding up so far? I've read that the tiny green nuts that the screw, screws into are quite fragile.

@@mustbescud so far I did not have that issue. I lost my screw some time ago and i’m using the standard screw now and no issue so far.

I had to watch this video because I couldn't believe someone actually had something to say negatively about snap mounts. I feel that what you are ridding and the terrain you are riding on would put almost any mount in a no-win situation, but the fact that you yourself said in one of the responses to a comment, "Snap Mounts actually agrees with me on these points and recently sent me their MTB prototype to test. Stay tuned". says everything there is to say about Snap mounts. I have the basic Snap mounts kit, I only use it for chest mount, use on my truck and anything metal to get footage but I love it, it's by far my favorite GoPro mount. P.S. I hope that prototype they sent you works for you so you can enjoy using your snap mount the way the rest of us do!
@jpmcghee Жыл бұрын
Man i so agree with you! It IS a great product and, you're right, the dynamic suspension of your body makes a big difference. That's for chest mount only though. Mounting to bike creates the issue. I'll be experimenting more over the next few months. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
@PeteDevlinootnaboot2 жыл бұрын
Never had either of these issues in 2 years of use. I've knocked the gopro off a couple of times though and you can't use the lanyard with a top that is too thick! 😂

Wish I had seen this yesterday before I Amazon primed it and unpacked it today 😅 I wonder if I can connect it to the chest mount and make it work that way?
@jpmcghee Жыл бұрын
There is definitely less vibration when attached to your body instead of the bike. You may be ok, but be prepared to slam on the brakes and hike back up for it! haha Thanks for watching and commenting!
@denny_13 жыл бұрын
The primary complaint is vibration correct? Are you comparing it to the OEM mount? The SNAP mount was never advertised as a vibration reducer.
@jpmcghee3 жыл бұрын
That is correct. SnapMounts has contacted me and said they agree with the issue and are working to correct it.

Good review. Try "winged" thumb screws and/or a screw driver to tighten securely.

Thanks for the suggestion and for watching! thanks for the comment! It’s not a matter of the camera moving. There is just too much vibration with MTB. SnapMounts agrees and is working on a solution.

Jeremy, I was thinking about using the snap mount on my chest protector while dirt biking. Do you think the magnets are strong enough to hold through the plastic of the chest protector securly? Maybe 2-3mm think of plastic. Thanks
@brianwilson11453 жыл бұрын
Thick* not think
@jpmcghee3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian! Great question! The magnets are definitely very strong. i don't have experience with them working through plastic like that though. For me, the issue is not security. It's vibration.

just use the mount upside down to prevent hinge moving down and forward?

The same situation happened on SnapMounts + Volta, but even worse. No matter how tight your thumbscrew is, your GoPro is still unstable and drops eventually.
@jpmcghee2 жыл бұрын
Oh definitely! That’s like two degrees of separation. Gotta have GoPro bolted down. I love the Volta but definitely only for handheld. Riding MTB is a whole other animal.

Great bracket for the chest unable to use with media mode and a mic connected to it, so I agree good idea but have few problems.

Agreed, but media mode is not good for outdoor use though since it is not dust or waterproof.

For MTB, not that I have found. There is so much vibration involved with filming MTB that it seems best to anchor down the camera as best as possible.

You are talking like that mountain bike is just your typical mountain bike, when clearly it's not. If you are talking about a mountain bike where you are sitting upright, then the video footage should match.
