The discount is different on your main vs alt. If you have a higher ilvl piece in that slot and are upgrading on main - you don't need crests like you said (and only 50% flightstones). For alts tho, the discount is only 50% off for flightstones, you still need crests on alts.

You only need crest once you upgrade it to the lvl of your mains gear I think, then you start needing crest after that is met.

yeah this has nothing to do with new upgrade system, you failed to use the IO score of 2400 to fully upgrade your gear. You should be leaving s1 at a minimum of 415 realistically. Most of my guild was ~420 ilvl without trying at all basically. You can get 2400 IO with just a pulse.

It's weird how complicated this sytem sounds when explained compared to how simple it really is. In practice it feels just like the valor system but applied to all PvE content. The extra "complications" that make it confusing are all just positive changes that can be ignored unless you are a top-tier min-maxer. For the semi-serious player the only thing it's worth being thoughtful about is the first time you upgrade a slot between 424 and 437, because the crests needed (wyrm) are relatively hard to get compared to the others and you need a lot of them. The lesser crests are extemely abundant and the better crest is harder to get but you don't need anywhere near as many. The overall result is that this is just like valor that applies everywhere and doesn't need rating, where you can get the valor from any source you like, and you can be way less paranoid about your decisions. In a few areas there is room caution in the exact same way as valor (i.e. it can be worth saving and see what you get from raid/vault before spending), but for the most part you can just spend as you like and it's unlikely to ever be a significant waste of resources. It's a really nice system actually - it means you will gradually optimise your gear for the level you play at just by playing the game at that level. Unless you are in a major rush to get full BiS then that's all you really need to know. And if you are in a major rush, the strat is basically the same as valor was before - get the highest base pieces you can and save your precious resources for as long as you can get away with before committing them.

People keep saying the discount applies to alts but it does not (at least for me) I've got an spriest at 438 and all those slots tthat are 428+ are not free to upgrade on my alts. Still have to spend crests. I thought it was because of different armor types but I confirmed it on cloaks as well.

if you can't do 8x20 weeklies on week one, I don't think you need 443 ilvl so soon. You're a casual, and eventually you'll get to that ilvl.

the cost is account wide, not the crests. also you can do that if you want, but ultimately you would be wasting time trying to trick a system that is meant to combat degenerate behavior. just be ready to feel like a dumbass when you realize you didnt speed your progress even a little bit.

I think you are forgetting the cap in week 0 for crests is 10. In week 1 you can go up to 20 aspect crests, not just 10

Storm gear is not a part of the new system, they want to buff classes but Storm gear mingled with tier messes with the numbers, so it's just catch up gear so you can start to progress from there.

Go to Valdraken, farm gear (will have affixes - explorer - adventurer - veteran - champion - hero), since you're new - just get Adventurer gear and upgrade as much as you can - you will need flight stones (doing anything like rare boss, zone quests etc should get flight stones, even pvp), and you will need whelpling and drake crests to upgrade. - once you have enough gear, feel strong enough - go study how to do mythic + dungeons Re: Mythic+ Tanks usually have to do the most studying, everyone else just sucks and gets carried to a certain level, or play ranged dps and not worry as much. Farm mythic + as much as you can Then with your ilvl 415-424 gear, go to any city, and spam - looking for guild for raid - repeat with Heroic and Mythic raid aberus - you can usually pug Heroic raids, but mythic will surely require guild Summary Farm Valdraken -> Farm Mythic+ -> Farm Normal and Heroic Raids (weekly loot lockout) -> Guild and farm Mythic raid As for crafting, just wait in any city and watch as people advertise their LFW stuff, click on their linked profession - look around the page and see what you like - All epic level 70 craftables can be crafted with special bits and bobs to make them relevant - i.e., you provide a spark of shadowflame, an enchanting writ for the stats you like, and the materials, which are easily bought from auction house, or farmed from mythic+ Just whisper the LFW profession guy advertising what to do if you're confused. You may need to do a little more digging for enchants and potions. But that's a little different from just farming gear that you add the rest on top of.

So many complaining. 99٪ of those complaining have never run content that pushes them to max out in shortest time possible and therfore have nothing to worry about. Only 1 % of the player base will attempt this or even capable of attempting due to needing to complete high level keys in first 2 weeks. People complaining prior to real patch content... you all need to work on enjoying the game at the level you enjoy playing at. This game, and others, is fun if you are a casual or ultra competitive....just go enjoy it.

Because new content, higher ilvl. And forbidden reach is not broken, you can keep doing it as it is faster to gear alts with it. Zaralek caverns only farms for your particular character. If you want to send gear around, Forbidden reach is still the best to farm.

Holy fk! This is like the 12th video Ive watched on gear upgrading, and it's still not crystal clear what I need to do, when I can do it, and if I should do it. The Hardcore Loyal Fans of WoW™ have mocked me at every opportunity basically calling me dumb and lazy, to which the obvious reply is "convoluted" isnt the same as "complex". My number one wish returning to WoW was Blizzard made the game complex (via putting real thought into the economy). Turns out prof system was the total opposite, with a facade of complex but really fkn basic. This whole crest system is just too fkn convoluted. Sure, there will come a point when it crystalizes in my mind and everything comes into focus, but the whole system was designed to push that point out as far as into the future as possible based on a strategy that THIS will keep players committed to the game.

It sounds a lot more confusing than it is. In practice you will just get resources from doing all PvE content, appropriate to the level you did it at. And those resources can be used to upgrade your gear. Very similar to how Valor worked before but it works across all PvE. All the extra stuff (like discounting) is just quality-of-life stuff that you really don't have to worry about at all - it just makes it harder to make mistakes. It'll all become way clearer as you use the system.
