thank you! I have an open diff and couldn't figure out what was causing my faulty readings until i came across your video. you saved me hours of searching with this video. why dose no one else mention keep one tire on the ground?

That I cant answer. Little tricks I've picked up along the way I guess. There was a time I was the guy searching online to figure it out haha. Glad it helped

Didn’t know all that info! Thanks Dan!!

Most Dana axles will have the BOM stamped into the tube too, this can be cross reference to see at least what gears it came with. Also the tag on the diff cover at least in Chrysler applications will have the part number stamped on it which can be cross referenced too. At 0:37 you can see the Chrysler part number on the top. 520xxxxx

Good info. I recorded this in a rush and realized afterwards I forgot to mention, just because the tag says 4.10 doesn’t mean someone hasn’t swapped them along the way. But man they’d have to be pretty dumb to leave the wrong tag on there after a gear change lol.

@@FlawedOffroad right. Either way it's good to know how to figure it out, can't rely on the tag always.

Thanks! 👌 it’s a process getting any traction on here but I’m tryin!

Thank you for making this video. So what happens when you spin pinion yoke on an open differential, should the tire spin twice when the pinion is spun at its ratio?
@FlawedOffroad Жыл бұрын
Depends on if you have one or two tires off the ground, I covered that in the video for with and thought locker

Mine is tire turns 1 time and drive shaft turns 1 time this is for a golf cart do everyone know what ratio it is

sounds like 1:1 no reduction to me

@@FlawedOffroad yes ok rear end I believe it’s a Chevelle not a golf cart but the Chevelle rear end have been shortened so it not as wide but my jitterbug has a 3 speed with reverse low and high range gear box and then the rear end so it got a lot of torque and it only got a 6.5 hp predator 212 on it but I was trying to figure out what gear ratio it had so I could see if I could find another one so I can make it 4WD

another clueless "expert" - power goes to the wheel with least traction. Hah! Power does not go anywhere. Power is a measurement of work done. If you mean the force that moves your truck (torque) - that force (torque) always goes equally to both wheels. No matter what you believe. S cience is not about believing. Get your physics book ot. Torque in an open diff is ALWAYS applied equally to both wheels.

@@77uhlen tell that to the one tire in the air spinning while the other one sits there as useless as some dude in his moms basement being a dick in KZbin comments. Yeah sure maybe there’s some stupid equation that says the same amount is being applied on both sides. but in reality where most people live, when one slips it’s the only one that moves and the other one does nothing. Doesn’t take an “expert” to figure that out. So sorry my terminology isn’t up to your standards.

@@FlawedOffroad read a book on occasion - a physics book. Especially when you think you know the answer.
