Wait... I didn’t get an ASP patch. 🤨. I bought mine a couple months ago. I’m glad I did. It’s a little tight in the khakis I wear to work, but it is comfortable, and it came with the virtual Stop the Bleed class. I’m glad you made this video because my tourniquet is packed incorrectly and uncomfortably. I need to repack and try it again. I probably wouldn’t have bought all the parts myself, but you made it easy... how could I not?? Thanks for the offer and the work. If nothing else, there is one more person out there ready to stop the bleed. (But missing an ASP patch. Lol). Thank you to Neil, John, and Steph and everybody else at ASP.

I always carry 2 tourniquets along with some Celox Hemostatic gauze. I like Israeli bandages but a little too puffy for this application so I have a couple ace bandages I’ll use with some gauze pads. My main concern is 2 tourniquets in case one breaks and they can break especially with age…..keep them out of the sun at all costs. I do NOT use Hemostatic powder because the blood will just bleed that stuff right out of the wound. Hemostatic gauze works much better but you have to learn how to use it and MUST keep constant pressure on the bleed source while stuffing the wound with the other hand. Please take some stop the bleed classes. Look them up…..most gun ranges or prep stores can tell you when/where.

Hey John, I know this is a year old video, but hopefully you'll see my question. Do you have a video that explains and shows exactly how to use every item in the Medical Kit? It would really help since I wouldn't want to open the expensive supplies just to learn more about it and then have to buy more supplies. If you don't have one, you should definitely make one, I'd appreciate it very much.

Hi, John: I just put my ankle medical kit together, but during the summer, I can't wear it with shorts, and I can't get myself to wear a tactical fanny pack. However, this ankle cuff packs downs so slim, that I can actually it this into my messenger bag, along with my laptop and iPad, and even some papers that need to be scanned. Since I'm a mobile worker, this works for me. (I still wear appendix when not wearing a suit, but at least I always have my murse... lol)

Not a bad choice. In shorts I switch to a cargo pocket kit.

The wilderness ankle cuff really is a high quality, comfortable piece of equipment. However, it looks bulky on my ankle as I wear tighter fitting jeans. I switched to a PHLster pocket emergency wallet. It fits everything that the ankle kit fits besides the tourniquet. I carry the tourniquet on my belt in a PHLster FlatPack and the emergency wallet compresses everything very well and I put it in my back pocket.
@ASPextra

I have a PEW and like it. I dunno that it fits everything but the tq, but it's a good workaround for pocket carry.

This ankle kit saved me from a whole bunch of discomfort on my last hiking trip. I use the ankle pouches to hold a combination of this kit and some other hiking first aid needs. Like antibiotic ointment and knee bandages. My friend and I were hiking a pretty technical trail and he slipped on a steep hill with loose rocks. He only scraped his knee and hurt his ankle a bit, so we weren’t in danger, but I was able to access my first aid on a sketchy slippery rock hill without having to reach in my backpack and rummage around and that made such a big difference.
