After a LOT of research and reviews I went with the OneWind as my first setup with their underquilt. I've been more than impressed with the quality after the first 3-4 nights in it. I purchased the Ultimate Hang 2 along with the hammock and have learned so much from it. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Thanks for the Kudos! It's a great hammock! I'm still using it. Lots of fun and very comfy.

Best onewind review! Very informative.

Thanks for reviewing the tarp. I needed to get a tarp that would work with a dual hammock setup (ducthware gear beetle buckle system with the tandem bar). I love my cottage vendor stuff, but I just cannot justify spending $200 for a tarp that will accommodate two hammocks. The onewind tarp fits the budget but I've hesitated to pull the trigger for a long time on it. However it pretty much ticks all the boxes as far as features. I can see by your video that the quality looks like it's there. Once I get it out there I'll have to put up a video showing it with the tandem hammock setup.

About to head out this weekend and the tip to keep the underquilt outside the bugnet will be something I try. That's a good tip.

Thanks! I'm glad you saw my other video too :() It's a great way to keep that netting of the ground and away from bugs.

Love your book & recs, but could not find exact weights of their systems. I let them know. Thanks for all you do!

Thanks. Yes, while the product is great, the website lacks on the English side. I know that they struggle here because English is not their first language and they don't have the same understanding around language so some concepts are translated oddly.

Derek, Glad you did a review on one wind. I’ve been using there gear since July of last year and have been very happy with their gear. I now have 3x of there hammocks with different fabric weights. Most of there gear also comes with nice double ended stuff sacks. I’ve used the windsock 4 times and had some condensation once. I also really like the tarp. I use the clips you removed to hook the mini carabiner. You can hook the doors to each other on the outside or inside without shortening the shock cord. I use a continuous ridge line for the tarp. Thanks for the great review.

Thanks! Yes, very nice gear.

looks awesome. You do some great reviews. I think I will have to possibly pick one of these up. The tarp looks better than my warbonnet.

Have you reviewed or compared with go outfitters? Also cheap with quality would love to see a comparison vid on cheap intro level equipment, I cant make up my mind...but you are helping me lean towards one wind.

Go Outfitters has some great gear as well, but I would lean toward OneWind for their total portfolio of excellent entry-level gear at great prices.

I have one of their early GE hammocks, which is nice for under $60 (I think I paid). It looks like they've made some upgrades since then too. I hadn't seen their tarps yet. Thanks, Derek.

Wow you weren't kidding about the prices! These are crazy affordable if the quality is consistent with your review.

Yes, I was impressed. The gear was very well made, nice stitching, quality fabric and components.

I recommend their gear to anyone that's looking to get into hammock camping as a good starter setup.

Awesome review. Could you switch directions on the winter cover and put the vents closer to your face?
@DerekHansen3 жыл бұрын
The vents should be on the head end for sure, but getting the mesh to align with your head is tricky, or I should say, difficult. You'd have to open and shift the cover. I don't think it's really worth it, and it may not make a huge difference.

Best made Gear for an Overseas Manufacturer = Click my affiliate links so I can continue to push this crap. But then again you are a fan of the Asian knock-offs.... Such a shame. Heh Did you even sleep in it?
@DerekHansen3 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion to choose the gear you prefer. However, making accusations without fact is unprofessional. First, I don't do affiliate links. I have no sponsorship from OneWind and the Amazon link is just a plain vanilla link (no kick-backs). I'm all for supporting USA-made gear, but be honest: a majority of gear "made in the USA" is only assembled, not produced. Most all of the fabric and notions are sourced overseas, even from our beloved cottage vendors. As I do ALL of my gear reviews, I reserve the right to be as blatantly honest and I am known for calling out "crap" when I see it. If you had watched the review, midway through I specifically call out One Wind for hijacking the Loop Alien. I am a fan of well-made gear that solves real problems and advances hammock craft. I was very skeptical when reviewing this gear but was delighted to see it wasn't just "another knock-off" or "copy-cat crap" that is so prevalent in the market today. Most all of the gear produced today is borrowing ideas from others, but this hammock is about as plain as they come -- no fancy rip-off from Hennessy, Dutch, DreamHammock, or even ENO or Grand Trunk. If anything, they have done their homework to add the little bits of detail that really show it's not just a clever hack but something thoughtful. And yes, they have the distinct advantage of selling on price. No middleman markup. As someone who regularly reviews gear -- just like any professional critic -- I take in both the best and the worst, not only so I have the advantage of having a broad knowledge base and background, but also to offer fair and balanced approach.
