Stumbled across you around 3 weeks ago and watched around 30 videos. Not one bad piece of advice yet. The school system should show your videos to all students. That would be a much better education than they are getting now. Stay low, and move slow.

I use a Bugnet tent with a floor, and a Basha Tarp for my shelter, it weighs roughly 6 pounds I think. The Basha is similar to what you have but a DPM camouflage, I also carry camo netting. It sits in a pouch ( Butt Pack ) fastened to the bottom of my Medium ALICE Pack. Another enjoyable video Blackie, keep'em rolling.
@jeffrichards51062 жыл бұрын
Hey Blackie, that's really nice. I would like to try that in the tent configuration. That would be awesome for the medium Alice pack! Thanks for the video. 👍

That magnet is something I never thought of before. Brilliant. Looks similar to what I have on the back of my fly vest, to hold the net in place.

That's almost the configuration that I use with my tarps. I sew my tarps up to add loops and strengthen the stems and tie-outs. I have been doing that since Cubscots because that was the big project making your tent from scratch starting with a tarp. Now, I want to look at that because the weight of my normal tarp config is less than 2lbs. I wonder if I use that fabric and merge my config with that would it drop a lbs and still be good for a all weather. Damn it.. now I have another project. LOL

Absolutely love onewind I've got there ultralight poncho tarp it's more than half the weight of my USGI poncho the best quality of any and way cheaper than the ultralight competitors this Whelen lean to and the poncho would be a complete tent and I believe less than a pound!!😁✌️💚
@ROMAN1382 жыл бұрын
That is classic bushcraft meets modern day materials. I love tarp shelters and this one cuts out the time factor of deciding what configuration to do. Because it comes pre configured it’s made to fit in with the terrain and weather

I have quite a bit of one wind gear. I like it because it is light, compact, easy to use, reliable, and their customer service is great. I recommend their gear for those that are looking for a light alternative to carry while you are hiking and overnighting in the woods. They are also a good source of shelter if you didn't plan on staying out but find yourself out there, and prepared to get through the event with a good shelter/sleep system option

I like it. Pair it with a poncho that could be used as a front door or top cover over the opening. 👍

I can see two of those put together in an "A" frame (a few inches overlap across the ridgeline with a few magnets to hold together) for a completely enclosed shelter.

Blackie, Great Video and Outstanding Information, remind me of my earlier days of Boy Scouts using Whelen and Baker tents . Thanks for your time and knowledge and wisdom. Getting off the ground would make it more comfortable in a hammock. Yes You Are The Master Woodsman and Buschcrafter.

In the desert of the southwest we don't have a lot of trees to tie our hammocks too. This looks like, along with a walking stick or trekking pole, a viable option for a light weight shelter.

I like the wings, but if you need to ADD a poncho or an additional tarp to increase protection, the tarp (being 4 feet deep) is too narrow for me. Personally I will continue to use my 10x7 Aqua Quest Defender tarp as a survival shelter.

Hi Blackie. I like the idea of the magnet attachment part/keyring thing you showed and I went to their website and couldn't find it anywhere on there whether by itself or included in anything. Am puzzled as I wouldn't mind having a few of them myself as I'm sure others would too. LMK is you know where maybe to get one. Thanx and great review btw!~

What’s with the tiny tarp thing if I want half of a shelter I can fold my tarp but if it rains I can unfold it that type can’t. I know you don’t want a lot of weight or bulk but a full tarp is worth it. I’ve had a bit of in the field life and wet or cold a cover is life. Have fun playing and hunting but shelter is up there with first aid. Stay safe have fun.
