I am a Huge STANLEY COOKSET Fan. I own and have used all of those sets extensively. There is an effective way to make those Cooksets almost completely non-stick! That a small, reasonable amount of olive oil or vegetable oil (liquid only, not sprays) and put some in the bottom and around the sides. Heat over your fuel stoves or campfire's edge. Long enough to get the oils really hot without scorching the oils. You can use that oil or discard it. Next cook as you normally would making CERTAIN YOUR HEAT IS LOWER IN TEMPERATURE THAN YOU USED TO HEAT YOUR OILS. Doing that will assure an almost non-stick cleanup once your foods are ready. Chefs ALWAYS PREHEAT their stainless cookware pots and pans to have that easy cleanup. Now then, that little 2 Cups (aka Green Cups) Set is great for deep frying fresh boneless chicken thighs and breasts! Seriously. Take along some flour, dry milk (water added) and coat the chicken. Fry it as you would at home with NO MORE THAN HALF FULL OF OIL. Comes out perfect. Doing something like that makes a full-on meal with a veggie or rice instead of boring heat and eat camp food. You can bread seafood like Scallops or white fish the same way. I've collected STANLEY Cooksets for decades. I believe I own all of the ones they make, including their most recent releases. Enjoy!

For the green tab on the lid another KZbinr suggested turning the the lid so the tab is facing away from the fire/heat source presenting less surface area to get hot reducing the likelihood of it melting.

Good review, literally decades ago, my family of 5 did alot of camping out and that meant lots of meals over the fire, we had handles on our cook items (Coleman that still work well decades later as I have them they just aren't used as often. My Mother learned how to make a handle potholder and it lasted the rest of her lifetime. Those looms with latch hook can make a great handle covering when moving the pot around on the fire or taking it off the fire, a little more hooking and it will slide on and off the Handle easily.

I love the 2 cup cook pot for solo use. ... But I never actually use the cups while camping. I keep a isobutane canister or 2, a BRS stove, a bottle of soap and a wash cloth in there instead and have a GSI clone nesting cup on the outside.

Good video. I bought the one on the left of the screen that comes with the two cups. I also bought one that you didnt show, its like the two pots that you showed but it came with a container a little smaller than the pot and 3 little containers for spices. I just used that one for an overnight canoe trip. All are made well and clean easily. I think stanley is really making a good light weight product for backpacking or canoeing. If your on facebook we have all our overnight canoe trips posted. Pics and maps of all the rivers that we have paddled. Look up jolly roger paddles and you should be able to see it. Thanks again.

Great products, i didnt know about the bigger set. Just an fyi, once you replace the tab with a split ring on the adventure cup, you can hang it over a fire by the ring. Works great for boiling water, but i wouldn't really cook food like that. For just water you can see the steam and vibration when it starts to boil. I reopen it with a multi tool and hot pad.

You are the only guy i have watched so far that has actually said if those tabs will melt. We should only cook over coals unless boiling water but thanks for putting that out there.
@jtmonsman8 жыл бұрын
i have had a tab melt, over coals. I now use a split ring through the tab hole, which not only doesnt melt, but it allows you to hang the whole thing over a fire if you close the handle!
@akeeperofoddknowledge49567 жыл бұрын
Chris Fisher ; not to sound like a total jerk, here, but the notes on the label state that the cook cup is for stove top use ONLY. Not to be placed directly into a fire or on hot coals. That tab is made of poetic for a reason. If you point it back toward the handle, you can place your thumb on it while you pour out the liquid through the drain holes ( for noodles and such).
@LovingIdaho7 жыл бұрын
Chris Fisher , mine has not melted in over a years use. But , my cooking is mainly done on coals and not a big flaming fire

Great video, I've spent months out in the field and all three of these choices great. Also somebody hasn't melted something then they just haven't had enough time in the woods. Being a half Frozen or hungry or that first cup of coffee when you can finally rest! Yes we can get in a hurry and then oops. I don't shop a lot and thanks I'm going tomorrow set. Thank you generosity time, great video.

Thanks for the comparison; I appreciate your style. I want to change from the Trangia cooking set to Stanley's stainless steel, so your review is valuable. Stanley now makes a stainless steel frying pan in addition to the sets you reviewed. The frying pan has a 3 layer bottom that helps with even distribution of heat. My question: Do these cook pots also have a 3 layer bottom? Or, are they a single layer (like the sides of the pots)? I enjoy your videos (just subscribed). Thank you!

Good video. You might want to take a look at the Adventure Prep Eat & Fry pan set by Stanley. Just like all the other Adventure Sets, it has the folding handle and lid. The unique features that are included are the plates, sporks (2 of them), the cutting board which is a non folding oval shape and a trivet to place under the hot fry pan. It also has the spatula that comes with the other two sets you have. I think it would find a home in a trailer or camper or just car camping.
