Gear Setup for Czech Combat 2024

Gear setup for the upcoming "Czech Combat", a tactical 2-gun shooting competition in Czech Republic organised by Sellier&Bellot and CZ. Additionally i will use the same gear for a helicopter shooting course that we will do after the competition.
The basis of my setup is Helikon Tex Guardian plate carrier, CZ Bren 2ms rifle and Bul Armory Tomahawk Axe handgun.

Do you have any regrets about the Bul Armory Tomahawk based on it's performance in the match? Was it user-error or is the design just not reliable enough?

Yes, i definitely had some regret because that stage cost me dearly. At the end i was 7th place overall and without that malfunction i would get 3rd place at least. Just yesterday i was able to diagnose the exact problem - it was a weak and a bit deformed trigger spring that combined with some dirt caused the trigger to not reset. I really love shooting with the BUL and i though it would hold up but it just wasnt made for this kind of use. It's a race pistol and i cant hold it against it

Sellier and bellot is my number1 ammo choice that i use. I keep the casings for reloads because ammo is very expensive in south africa.

@@brianleverich4467 you could definitely carry more What i did is add extra 10kg diving weights in my baby carrying backpack for training. Also when he grows and gets heavier, i will get stronger 😅 The only real downside to this is that my back hurts, but that's the new normal at my age...

@@PolenarTactical We're talking 1980's-90's quality Levis here, and pre common GoreTex for everything. I was Gebirgsjäger, the winter overtrousers were too hot 80% of the time, the standard trousers were too thin at times. Also on the Golan the thicker fabric of jeans was better against thorns and such. Standard fatigue trousers, and the movement they allow, also does/did weird stuff with my underwear, which also weren't, stay dry, low drag special operative tactical underpants at the time. And most importantly, because forbidden, cool as hell.

The brass catcher is kinda shit. As far as I know the only viable option is provided by Hornady. You have to use a contact point on your top rail where you can then slide the bag on. The bag itself is supported by a metal cage which keeps it in shape. Never had any issues with mine.

I've wondered about the quality of Helikon-tex for a while. Hopefully you will do a review of their gear post competition.

I have the guardian and as a hobby tailor I think that the overall quality is quite good. Material quality is a bit less than tasmanian tiger or warrior assault but much better than one Tigris. The seam is very good and clean but it doesn't have an overlock seam on the inside, which may be bad for long life. But yeah I'd like to see polenar tacticals opinion on this too. Oh and Helikons clothes it's the same quality and the overlock seam breaks easily.

Is the Holosun AEMS a competitor to the t2 or xps in your mind?

Maybe to T2 XPS is a holographic sight which is a different system from a reddot. T2 works in a similar manner than AEMS, but AEMS has a bigger, wider and rectangular lens which gives a bigger field of view. Also i like the fact that the body is quite thin and doesnt obstruct your peripheral vision around the optic

@@boi-tn1ji i have very limited trigger time on mine, around 3000 rounds and for now it works great. I would say it's definitely quality made and durable - it held up through a Brutality match, Czech Combat shooting competition and helicopter course :D

Maybe in time there will be a comparison between The Helikon plate carrier vs the Direct Action Spitfire (or Bearcat) plate carrier Sometimes i am thinking about getting a plate carrier and was thinking the Helikon option would be cheaper, when i heared they were bringing out a plate carrier, if i wanted to get something i could use now and then for still good quality but a bit lower price. Its the same company but with the price they are basically the same, even though Direct Action is supposed to be the part of the company geared toward more hard military use and because of that the quality is upped making them more expensive. But in this case only the pouches are the more expensive part. So it makes me wonder what are the differences then. For clothing though i have the reverse, Direct Action shirts and pants are more expensive then the Helikon Tex ones. But Helikon looks exactly the same for lower price (and a few more options) and after trying out the ones from Helikon the quality feels higher then you would think too. That inside foam backing does look nice, is that just normal foam with holes cut out or some special type of foam?

We have a couple of Direct Action plate carriers in our shop. They are ok but nothing special. I think the difference is that Helikon Tex products are sewn in Vietnam and other Asian countries but Direct Action is made in Europe

@@PolenarTactical After some more comparing , i think i might even do a combo. When i decide on when i want to get a carrier. Maybe doing the Helikon plate carrier and using the Direct Action pouches and front flap. As it looks like those front flaps are the same dimensions. Giving more flexibility to use of different pouches. I have my belt and chest rig all from Direct Action and really love it. And their pouches are great to use, since you can use it with different types of magazines. But also without a cover, never liked those, the mag pouches still hold the magazines firmly in place. Although those Red dot ones do look really fancy.
