so useful, I love your channel. My grandfather passed and left me his workshop. all of the tools inside are extremely old and most have issues which I fixed with your help. I never realised how simple the insides of some of the most useful tools were.

I learn from watching you work, then learn more from the collected wisdom of the viewers in the comments. For a lot of guys who grew up in the *single mother wasteland* , this is knowledge that we couldn't get from fathers or grandfathers, but hopefully we can pass along ourselves. KZbin at its best, truly.

Excellent job with the restoration jobs of each video. You know what you are doing and it takes a lot of patience and hard work. That's a lot of work. Taken it apart is easy but putting it back together again it looks very hard. You have to have a good memory to know where everything goes. Excellent work. God bless you.

I'm not sure a unit this small really needs casters but, if you insist, you probably should've tacked in a mounting plate for each one in order to fully engage the caster mounting plates and make them more durable. Nice job though! Looks 1000% better.

I don't recommend reusing the pressure tank, especially this one because it's such a bad design. The drain is not at the absolute bottom center of the tank, it's offset, meaning that water that condenses inside the tank won't be properly purged when the tank is drained. And who knows if the compressor was cared for properly, you're supposed to drain them after each use, but most people don't and the tank ends up rusting out. Repainting an old tank is dangerous as it hides the condition of the tank. I recommend that if the tank is to leave your possession, you render it useless by drilling large holes in it or cutting it up. It's not worth the risk of it exploding under pressure and killing someone. I also don't recommend pressurizing at all if possible. I've serviced a couple of compressors that had never been drained and the owners were complaining they were running all the time, in both cases, several gallons of rusty water came shooting out the drain. They kept them in service despite warnings that the tank was compromised.
@Leonardo-rp1gk
@Leonardo-rp1gk 5 жыл бұрын
So that tank is useless because it is rusty from inside. But how can you fix it? you buy another tank?
@GGigabiteM
@GGigabiteM 5 жыл бұрын
@@Leonardo-rp1gk Yes, you scrap the tank and buy another. Once the tank starts corroding, the integrity is compromised and there's no way to repair it safely. Compressed gasses should be treated with care, there's a ton of energy stored up just waiting to be released. take a look at what happens when truck tires explode, they can send pieces of tire flying for dozens of yards and shatter windows of other cars on the road. Split rim tires are another example that aren't called widow makers for no reason. Compressors are even more dangerous as the pressure is far higher and you're dealing with a metal container. I've heard of people being near cut in half by detonating compressor tanks, losing legs, being impaled, etc.
@r1273m
@r1273m 5 жыл бұрын
That is a very interesting comment. I have a compressor which has had little use over the 20 years or so I have had it. In fact it has never been on for the last couple of years. I am thinking of putting it up for sale but I am worried about the rust that maybe inside of the pressure tank and if there is anywhere I can get it tested. Maybe a new tank would be the safest option. @@GGigabiteM

@GGigabiteM
@GGigabiteM 5 жыл бұрын
@@r1273m If any of the fittings have openings large enough, you can stuff a boroscope inside the tank to visually inspect it, but I would just scrap the tank and buy a new one.

La empresa se llama PUREGAS y es canadiense. Uno de los inconvenientes del uso de faldones de teflón (anillos) en los pistones es que el ciclo de carga y descarga no puede exceder de los 5minutos entre descanso y traabajo 😀😀

Just a tip other interested viewers: Dip the tap in grease before you chase the threads. The metal chips will embed in the grease within the flutes of the tap and not fall into the work piece. Residual grease in the threads can be washed out if you are using the liquid pipe dope as in the video, or left in place if using Teflon tape.
