It actually sounds good! I was expecting it to be bad because of your skeptical intro :) nice singing!

Great review. I just ordered my VMS and can't even think straight! I gotta have it. Your review was very detailed and you're funny as hell. LOL

Hi Thomas! Thank you for the nice singing. It is hard to watch reviews of this gear when the people testing it sing poorly. You did a great job at playing and singing! Did you try using the microphone and the plugins without the Slate preamp? I mean, they also sell the separately. Is it worth buying the whole VMS or will the ML-1 on its own do the trick with different sounding microphones? Thanks!

Very good - and useful - review. Nice playing and singing. I would say however, that when recording - somewhat obviously - the sound is 99%, certainly in a device whose fundamental purpose is to record sound as accurately as possible. The fact that this particular device, to one degree or another, replaces several other devices (and expensive ones at that) as inexpensively and as effectively as it appears is very impressive, and so I would think that size and build are really not much of an issue. If it replaces several thousand dollars/euros worth of equipment as well as it appears, it could pretty much be the size of a Volkswagen before I would complain. And some of us look after our gear... :-) Many thanks.

Awesome video 👏👏👏 Question, please: I have a Scarlet solo and I am not a professional, do I HAVE to have the pre amp or can I buy the Slate microphone only? Thanks in advance!

what a great voice. now come on man. :) i just got one of these. discovered similar things. put that trimmer first... and revival afterwards, and push that 100% up to 125 or 150. These are the sort of differences that make sense as choices... Otherwise just pick one of the great mic models, set it and forget it.

Love your voice. Better still, your opinions! Hardware is cheaply built. I can't really hear the preamp difference either. Intensity at 100? Negligible. Seeing you pop it up to 150 is what made sense to me too for some takes. Thank you for sharing the plugin choices! And humor! What were your VMS-ONE settings?

I agree on the size, I'd prefer a small condenser mike. Is this cardioid only? Anyway the price of the whole system might be justified but not for a hobbyist homerecording guy. Although it really sounded good, even on an iPad the differences were clearly there, and the sound of the modeled u47 was to die for...

Nice. Can you share your view of your compression /verb and VMS settings?
@ThomasSchuber7 жыл бұрын
GODJLG no comp. Verb is Garage-band Standard. Setting always 150%.

Someone has probably already mentioned this, but the smaller mic and more mic models for drums and instruments has been introduced in the Slate Digital VRS. The mics and a rack mount preamp with 8 of the VMS One Pre's in it addresses the cons you mentioned in your video. I just purchased the VMS and I'm already planning on the VRS system in the future. So far I'm very happy with the results I'm getting. Thanks for your video. It helped in my decision to purchase. Here's the link to the VRS video with Steven Slate. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJSmm5l7n7ONmrs
