We had this silly idea to use one big turbo and one small turbo for the remote mount 370z to get back some spool and keep our top end power. The results were crazy!! We're also preparing Jari's RSX for his turbo setup.

Better way to explain wastegate: You want your turbo to hit a specific pressure (PSI). Once it reaches this specific amount (bar, pound), the exhaust gases then are forced to exit by regulating the amount of 'excess' pressure out of the wastegate. A boost controller allows you to do this electronically so you can adjust it not only by the legitimate pressure spring, but by an electronic valve.

Idk what the budget you want to spend on this is, but a quick spool valve and bigger twin scroll turbos would probably be the best option. And a wrapped exhaust to keep some heat in.

Been waiting all week for this video, really enjoying the Z build! Great idea using 2 different turbo sizes. Next best thing to sequential setup. Don't know what turbine inlet flange size or downpipe diameter you're using, but I'd adjust the down pipe size so it's cross section area matches the turbine inlet flange cross section area for best spool. Regarding MAF sensor, you can increase the MAF intake tube diameter and scale the MAF sensor accordingly. Log it for 5 minutes at idle, then change out the MAF sensor and log again for 5 minutes. That'll give you the correct scaling to use. Only potential issue is that idle may become a little less stable. Keep up the good work!

You know, back in the 90's Japanese auto manufacturers did a sequential twin turbo to combat this exact problem whilst keeping things simple and straightforward. Not really that different from using two different turbo sizes. That was a really cool and creative idea. I like this style of car tuning; it's very artful.

I remember, so no source, that 2.3l mustang guys with auto trans had a t3 0.48 exhaust housing too. They are apparently really inefficient as boost goes up and would only put out 12psi at peak with the Wastegate line pulled. The drive pressure gets out of hand too. I really want to know what pump you guys used for the oil because I want to put an HX35w under my 3.0l Audi a4.

You can make the pipes larger for the maf's and scale them for the larger pipe. I've also heard of using the r35 maf's.
@Turbogto_guy5 жыл бұрын
CornellW003 he wouldn’t really have to rescale anything. Larger pipe slows airspeed down so the frequency will go down and give more resolution Just retune the fueling for the frequency.
@CornellW0035 жыл бұрын
@@Turbogto_guy that might work too. I'm still learning the uprev stuff. I've ditched mafs years ago with my sr20 but I'm getting into the g/z game now so I'm learning too.

Eddie Castaner I think that’s pretty much what I said. When you scale the injector flow and engine size it makes the ecm think the engine is smaller. So less frequency is used in the maf

It also looks like the drive-ability hasn't been compromised going rear-mounted turbo which is nice.

Try to wrap the exhaust and blanket the turbos to give us an absolute best case scenario of what kind of spool times to expect . Maybe you'll achieve even more power sooner. So far so good and also how much boost are you running?
@GearheadsAutofab5 жыл бұрын
About 7.5 is the highest we saw on the wastegate before the controller, shortly after that we maxed the maf
@justanothermorty5 жыл бұрын
Those small turbos had to move a ton of air through a ton of piping and then create pressure in all that. So It make alot of sense why the fell of like that that's alot of volume to fill.
@B7_S4_Turbo5 жыл бұрын
Volume of boost piping is not enough to make a difference.
@awdrifter33945 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's an intersting way of doing twins. Did you have some way to equalize the back pressure of the cylinder banks?
@jonnyhoath5155 жыл бұрын
They flow into a single intercooler then the 2 intakes feed off the cooler
@awdrifter33945 жыл бұрын
Then in that case he should use a even smaller turbo, since the pressure will get equalized a smaller turbo will give him even earlier boost. Or have the smaller turbo's wastegate dump back to the big turbo's side. They should also wrap the exhaust pipes, some rear mount turbo guys seems to do that to try to retain more heat in the exhaust.
@jonnyhoath5155 жыл бұрын
2 very good points there! Love the idea of the small turbo Wastegate entering the big turbo exhaust

@stevenrodriguez39825 жыл бұрын
elmo z there are a lot of factors to consider when dealing with MAFs and no 2 setups are the same. Pipe diameter is huge, air density is a factor, and pressure is a factor. On our setup this is what we max out sensor voltage at. It's not bad information it's our information specific to this build. We could get MAF headroom by increaseing pipe diameter or adding resistance to the MAF signal wire. This is why people who go forced induction typically go speed density instead and tune off of volumetric efficiency.
