The small black rubber piece that is “left over” goes in the slot on the bottom of the handle, nearest the key/lock. No idea what purpose this serves or why it’s made that way. “It is what it is” I recon. Just push it in there until it stops...that’s what she said...

Awesome help but what was that black spacer in the beginning? I didn't see it go anywhere it just disappeared. Also when I was tightening those little screws for the lock cover it will not get tight. Is there a gasket that goes there? It makes the key hole cover feel loose

My kit came with only one, ( I had two handles) I couldn't figure out what it did or its function so I left it behind. My handles work fine though so I know its not necessary. As far as the lock cover not getting tight Idk man it should get tight you may have to figure that one out on your own.
