Finally found very useful video so I get to understand Gear train n compound gear ratios. Straight to the point well done!

Thanks Mandy! I needed a refresh on this. I'm 41 and trying to make a tool. This helped quite a bit. I'm a very mechanical person sit so much as inherited it, but that said I wish I would have paid more attention in science class in school. Again thanks for making this and I hope to see more from you!

Amazing! My lecturers can't explain this in such a simple manner, they just overcomplicate it.

You are a really good teacher. This is my first introduction to this portion of gears and I feel like I have a good basic idea of what it's all about. Thank you for sharing this to the world

Thank you for this I'm going into mechanics in the army and I watch this a while back before my meps and this helped me with the mec questions

Presented easy to follow. I was looking for information about gear ratios trying to figure out some lathe information. Your presentation got me through the lathe spindle rotation to the gear box input for the lead screw. Now I will have to figure the gear reduction in the gear box to turns on the lead screw. Goal it then to change the American carriage distance movement to metric.

Thanks Mandy. Not a student, but I love to learn. Good stuff!

I think the reason why in the mechanical advantage equation the velocity is an inverse(input/output),is because the velocity outcome is always a disadvantage(comes out smaller than the inital)in a gear system that has a MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE so it has to be RECIPROCATED to conform into the mechanical ADVANTAGE equation...besides the video is quite informative thank you!

Matt, when you have more than one gear ratio you don’t add them together, you multiply one ratio by the other. Example there are 2 each 2.5 ratio gear boxes. Added that would be a 5.0 ratio. Actually it’s 6.25 when multiplied.

Tokage Law is it possible to “maze” the gears to meet on a screw shaft on different sides, obviously the ones touching the shaft directly will have to move at the same speed. But is it possible to combine speed and torque?
