Its a reference to the same nightmare he's had for a decade. He went AWOL to rescue his father, failed, got a bunch of soldiers killed, then sentenced to life in the Slab. Its explained better in the books. Coincidently, the nightmares were the reason he and Anya never officially hooked up. He was afraid of hurting her in his sleep.
