Gears of War E-Day: 7 NEW DETAILS You May Not Know

With Gears 5 now five years old, demand for a new instalment in Microsoft’s beloved third-person shooter franchise has been growing ever louder, and going into the Xbox Games Showcase, leaks had claimed that a new entry would indeed be unveiled.
And sure enough, it was- though not quite the way many would have expected. Rather than announcing Gears 6, at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and The Coalition unveiled Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline instalment in the series that, surprisingly enough, is a prequel to the original trilogy, set fourteen years before the events of the first game.
With that, with Marcus and Dom returning, with the vibes looking very much horror- adjacent, and with the Locust looking scary again, there’s every reason for series fans to be excited.

@@sv_1407dl yeh the games are solid, the characters are likeable (though not as good as og trilogy ones) and I honestly enjoyed the open world aspect to gears 5. Only issue I really had with gears 5 is there wasn't much to find in the open world other than cool guns and a few side missions. Jack isn't an enjoyable character but there is del for multi-player. Gears 4 only issue was it also felt a tad short for the campaign. But still very solid games and don't deserve all the hate.

Kinda scared how they said we are going to see the origins of Marcus and doms friendship. They were already friends since childhood. Carlos did play a huge role in that and his death is what made their bond with each stronger because neither of them wanted to lose another brother. Them mentioning carlos gives me some relief but i hope that this isnt some "two guys become best friends " story because they were already friends for years.

See the thing about 4 and 5 was continuing a new story later in the series, its not that they weren't scary it's just they didn't have that more horror tone. It was still dark in the aspect of losing family still but I know what your saying, it's hard to recreate the feeling the first time you break into the church to escape the horde in gears 1 just to run into your first berserker. Where getting touched meant insta death 😂

Same goes for GOW 5 her campaign was dull but at least the multi player aspect was still fun. IMO GOW will ALWAYS be Marcus, Dom, Baird, Cole Train, Tai, Hoffman, Anya Stroud and the Carmines. Playing as Kait in a GOW campaign is like playing an awesome Star Wars game but instead of playing as Anakin/Vader, Luke, Darth Maul, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Yoda, Mace, Obi Wan or Boba Fett we get to play only as Jar Jar Binks and Rey.

Yeah, I really only see 6 being good if they do a "split" style campaign at least to account for the players choice at the end of 5. Change up what happens (at least order of locations and context) different dialogue to make each choice feel significantly different. This would also have to make 6 like the last game though as every game would have to implement that kind of system going forward

I have hope since the coalition did the locust justice in the moments they were in 4 and 5. The locust were actually badass in those games I am not talking about the swarm fyi. So a game with locust is gonna be insane especially since it is eday!

Hopefully we also see a little more about the pendulum wars. It’s commented several times that Marcus was a pendulum wars war hero, but we never really get a good look at the war. I know it’s a distraction from the locust/swarm storyline, but I think it’d be a cool spinoff kind of like Gears Judgement

I think it's because a standalone game purely about Pendulum wars would be a pretty boring premise, hence why we've had a few snips here and there, and a single mission but nothing else.

I figure it’d be interesting to say the least. If nothing else it’d be neat to see the last battle of the war emerging into emergence day. Like a sort of campaign DLC for Gears: E-Day. Idk it’d be an interesting premise

I'm glad they are doing this. I know I'm not alone in wanting more Locust War time period games, Gears 4 and 5 do not need to be continued for some time. Theres 17 years worth of war stories to tell (from E-Day to Gears of War 3) so lets get more of that!

Well the chainsaw Lancer wouldn't be a thing until Tai came up with that idea, using a saw blade from a workshop when they engaged with one of the grubs. So we most likely won't see the Lancer till middle or near end of the story. Is my guess

Marcus and Dom had always been close but more of a Big Brother to Little Brother way. Carlos dying at Aspho Fields and asking Marcus to make sure Dom is safe is what truly kicked off Marcus and Dom always being together. We’re more than likely going to see Padrick, and Tai as the other two team members of Omega Squad and their bot Baz. Baz was Pads spotter in the Pendulum wars, we will also be seeing the hammer of dawn strikes take out 90% of Sera and the Invention of the Chainsaw Bayonet Lancer and how it was conceived

Marcus got his scar on his cheek when a prison hound ripped his face open in jail, he was saving his friend from a corrupt guard, and said corrupt guard jumped at the chance to also kill Marcus so 2 more dogs were unleashed, making 3 total.

dom and marcus are childhood friends. per the books they grew up together with marcus being anti authority and falling in line with the santiago brothers. they grew close when marcus's mom disappeared and carlos died
