For those commenting on Karn's weaker state as a boss compared to RAAM, Skorge or Myrrah, remember, this is early in the war. The General in charge isn't quite as powerful as the later generals who have more experience. Killing Karn opened it up for RAAM and then later Skorge to take charge of the army.

Karn is good commander for being strategic and using ambush, flanking etc. But it is true he is a weak fighter because he is not meant to fight. He is there to provide strategy.

My guess is Karn saw the missile or Troy coming and quickly went underground to survive. He can pop up from underground so presumably he can go back under there too.

That basically WAS the equivalent of a nuke and that was a low-yield one according to Sofia. The Lightmass Bomb was basically the same thing too.

I believe that a lightmass bomb could kill a riftworm. If delta could chainsaw through its hide, a lightmass bomb would do the trick

yeah their called atomic bombs and hydrogen bombs. Their effects can be global due to fallout,(radioactive dirt from the explosion being carried by the wind across large areas). I'm only 15 and I know that. :)

i think lightmass bombs work different. for all we know there could be no dangerous substances on sera such as uranium and plutonium.

I'm just curious. Did the missile do enough job as Kilo intended? I mean just by watching this scene, I can't tell if it was worth it really. Except it saved Marcus and his squad

It killed a hell of a lot of Locust yes, but Karn somehow survived. Ironically, he saved Kilo from that promised court-martial when his forces attacked the courtroom as Loomis was about to shoot everybody. Karn acted as the final boss of the game, fought by Loomis and Kilo as they try to escape the courthouse. After you kill Karn's mount Shibboleth, Loomis executes Karn with his pistol while Kilo debates on what to do with him. That fight causes Loomis to change his mind and drop the charges, but he demotes Baird back to Private as a consequence. In the Aftermath campaign taking place during Gears 3, Baird, Cole and Carmine return to the ruins of Halvo Bay to get a ship to reach Azura and encounter Paduk who lives there. Near the beginning, you can view the crater from the blast and Paduk comments that "we call it Kilo."

ANDROMADA ever shot down a satellite? Thats why. Hammer of dawn can be repeatedly used and there are more than one. once you use a nuclear bomb you have to waste time and money to get another one. Plus it's use is more versatile. You can either use it to completely obliterate an entire city (or more) or you can use It it to focus on a target a corpser without completely killing friendlies
