So i guess my issue with this video is that I've been working to do the exact opposite to my car. I've got a 2007 Grand Touring, and have been working to restore it. I've added sound insulation nearly everywhere, and have done what I can to the cab quieter and more comfortable. While I'm not the biggest fan of the S2 redesign, the R3 interior is pretty coveted. But, it's your car, and you're free to do what you want! Always here for the videos!

I consider free weight reduction is removing anything the car already has, if your swapping parts, even if you have them already, you spent money at some point to get it so no your battery is not free weight reduction, but still thats a huge turn around for weight savings cant wait to see how much it will improve on the track now

Idk why but I always chuckle when dedicated car guys get excited over 200lbs. And to be fair y’all’s video make it exciting for everyone. But as an off-roader, I could shave 1200lbs off my truck in 30 mins and put it back on. Roof top tents, awning, refrigerator, battery packs, spare fuel, etc. it weighs a lot. But I also ride, and a simple diet can massively improve power to weight ratio. It’s funny to me cause I’m on the extreme of both ends. Either 100lbs is nothing or 6oz is everything 😂

I drive what you would call a "light car". That's as in 400 pounds less than the post-lightening RX-8 it also has significantly less power than the RX-8, but I will say that when cargo/ passengers bring the weight up by that amount there's a big difference in response and grip. Does that mean anything? Probably not, but I'll bet the difference will be noticeable. Will it be psychological due to the new more tin-canny feel? Hopefully the stopwatch will tell.

I'm commenting for the algorithm but its a bummer the car is going this direction. Yes its below 200hp but it still won your race. Not every car needs to be 600hp to be fun. It's your car, its getting engagement, so its accomplishing your goal there. The surface rust on the bottom can easity be dry ice blasted off. Paint on a 16-17yr old car isn't going to be perfect. It was complete which is incredibly rare for S2 RX-8s let alone R3. That said I'm sure there is a lighter weight shift knob to throw in there. I'll take that off your hands. :)
