Well, it's part of growing up. In 1993 I took my Pontiac Fire Bird 2.8 L standard tranny's to Toluca Mexico from West Palm Beach FL. Almost, almost run out of fuel at Queretaro Mex at 3 am in the mountains. Finally made it to the only fuel station open , all of them make fun of me ( taxi's cap driver's and station workers for no fueled up before. ) But I made it. Spend a month and returned to the states. All this by myself.

@@spaceghost5026 while it's still good to do it if your engine is stock, it's more important to premix your engine is heavily modified like that one, I only changed a few parts for my FC and I still premix, just to be safe

With coolant burping issues like this, you typically have to jack the car up in a way to make your burping apparatus the highest point in your coolant system. Air bubbles like to hide in the highest point. A classic case of this is exactly what @Krispy Media dealt with in his cross country trip in his Subaru Legacy GT. Glad you guys were able to get the system burped eventually though! Keep rocking, definitely excited to see more!

Rotaries are Reliable. My dad had two and gave me his fc around 60,000 miles. Drove it to 130,000 miles the sold it, it had alot more life to go and I changed it to new Plugs at barely 90000 miles it had the original clutch still also. Many owners dont read the owners mile and look at the service intervals needed. Never had ANY PROBLEM on the FC OR FD. I also went to the same Shell gas station since it was new with my father. Only go to Mazda for its services and you will be fine.

This is epic. Rode all through Montana and Idaho on a motorcycle last year, would NEVER do it in my FD, especially in winter, but awesome to see someone else doing it. What luck not having blown the coolant seals on the 13b. Radiators for FDs are a dime a dozen, hindsight's 20/20. GOT to have a good temp gauge in a rotary. Keep it up guys, awesome series.

The downfall of the rotary has been displayed, they got no low end torque and you never EVER want to overheat one. Rotaries are horizontal on the coolant passages, so bleeding them on a level surface, sucks. they could've saved hours if they you know... Tipped the car a few degree's.

The engine is still fine the only way to know how it heath is to test compression and some rotorys run for years in half of there speck compression and a single turbo give enough torque and hp over torque any day

Yet 100°C is not overheating. At least for my stock FD, 100 - 105°C is normal engine operating temperature. But I bet, you most likely know, what happens to water at 100°C (at atmospheric pressure), which causes all the bubbles :-)
