I've watched many of these Onkyo no sound HDMI chip fixes since I have this issue with one of their flagship units. You've received some pretty strange comments and I'm not sure why because your video was clear, concise and well explained. I even picked up a new tip from watching your videos so thank you.

Great video. I've fixed many of these, esp Onkyo, in the same fashion. Just one tip, use some flux around the chip. Helps with any oxidation in the broken joints.

Those hot air stations aren't meant for soldering(Or anything really.) they're junk that fall apart and might burn your house down depending on where the parts fall. Try Atten or Quick.

I'm not sure if that's totally fair. I actually fixed the unit, and showed the tools used and that it worked. I even spoke about alternate methods based on equipment you may already have
