Mirror cams are old news. And fuel safety systems? These days they'll drill a hole in the bottom of the tank if you have a security system installed...

Les cameras existent en Europe depuis 3/4 ans... Quand au réservoir il suffit de faire un trou dedans.

The fuel tank security devices are all very well, the thieves will just drill or punch a hole in the tank. If they do that not only have you lost all your fuel but you also have to get the tank repaired. Some fuel thieves even have a hollow spike with a pipe attached which they punch through into the tank bottom, again meaning you have to have the tank repaired

Every system they put on and automatically deem safe and secure is so much BS. If my kid in grade 6 can hack an entire city school boards system. This was years ago, but he simply asked the teacher how secure the system was. When the teacher said absolutely no one could break in, well, it took him 5 minutes to get into payroll! The thing is, anything put out there can easily be broken! For my son, it was 20 years ago, and we didn't even have a computer in our home then. Now, it's use your smartphone to start your car or use it for whatever you want it to do for you. If someone makes it, someone else can most times break it!

The battery powered trailer looks to me that the weight distribution is all wrong. Also it must be heavy so you would have a reduced payload which would pretty much negate the efficiency of the unit. Probably just a bad idea all around.

The batteries are way forward, but I think that's for traction on the tractor unit, because the drive axles aren't weighed down with half the trailer+load weight, but the batteries instead. Makes sense in winter, and not a problem in summer. For the reduced payload, they might get a royal pardon on the battery weight. Overall, a retrofit solution on existing trailers should be way more efficient though.

Yeah, and yet another axle you`ll get charged for on toll roads, bridges... Lord knows it would triple your price to drive the Mass Pike with that thing lengthening you out like that. Truck stops that are made for slab-cabs pulling 40` containers.... Where you gonna put 90-plus feet of this crap? Oh, and if you drive into adverse conditions, good luck backing up any more than 2 feet without getting all twisted up.

It's easy to criticize the design without considering the advancements in materials and technology. Manufacturers are constantly innovating to address these issues. This trailer might just be ahead of its time!

@ until the legal road weighs change then adding weight via the trailer only increases the cost to move freight.

@@tempestmkiv While legal weight limits are important, they can stifle competition. If regulations were more flexible, companies could innovate and find better ways to manage freight costs.
