GE engines are insane. The GE90 is one of the most impressive engines I have flown with on a 777 and that was a very powerful engine. I remember thinking this plane is too big to move, and then the pilot gave it some juice and the GE90-115 game alive and that plane climbed like a homesick angel on steroids. Unbelievable is the understatement of the century.

I wonder what the 0-60 time of a typically loaded 777-300ER is if the pilots go full thrust on takeoff? I first flew on one last summer to Greece (Emirates), and the acceleration and raw power was insane!

shame the A350 didn't also offer the GEnx or a version called GEnx XWB or something along those lines alongside the RR Trent XWB

It's not Airbus but GE was unwilling to provide engines for a 777 competitor. Only the A359 can accommodate the GEnx the stretch A35K requires a GE90 Thrust rating.

I love the GE 90-90B on the 777-200ER it sucks that the only American airline to get was Continental American and delta had RR and United had PW on 777-200ER

Amazing stuff. Congratulations on those engines. What am I missing then that the share price is just under $7.00? Can one suggest the 777 could become the new 747?

Only if one wants to suggest its a failure. It took 40+ years for Boeing to sell more than 1000 747s and the last two real "variants" - the 747-400 and 747-8 - which basically is more 787 Dreamliner than 747 given its 787 wing and the fact that the WING IS THE AIRPLANE - account for way over half that "success". Until GE got serious about civil aviation and did it's own thing and provided alternatives to the endlessly rehashed and renamed R-R boat anchors and the "obsolete" P&Ws on the "original" 747 and the aircraft finally became all it could be 30+ years after initial "development", it was an abject failure by comparison to all other Boeing civil "airliners". Ultimately it was "profitable" prior to the 747 only because the new Seattle "plant" centralized "jumbo" production in one facility just when Boeing was running out of military aircraft "orders" and had other paid off facilities becoming available for "narrow body" production. Anybody with half a clue knows the 737 and 757 really "made" Boeing in the turbofan era and GE's "competition" - especially R-R with its asinine "triple-spool" abortions that are yet to make their maximum "rated thrust" of a laughable 90,000ish lbs in a GE/FAA "triple redline test" (max thrust/max EGT/max turbine inlet temp) and survive period much less survive "unaffected" and not require "service" any sooner after than after any "single redline" test - was literal "dead weight" during the 747 "program". The one and only time R-R was forced to put its most "modern" so-called GEnX "competitor" on a real test stand - General Electric's in fact - and really "compete" to gain actual FAA certification on a new airframe - the 787-8 - in a real head-to-head test at the "triple redline" the "Trent" rehash of the RB whatever boat anchor had a serious "anomaly" and basically did its own brief "exploded view" illustration on the high speed and "totalled" G.E.s $7 million "test stand" - which was probably "obsolete" anyway since the GE90 "family" has now pushed the bar up to 130,000+ lbs of thrust and which GE engineers and suits probably couldn't think of a better way to "retire" if their jobs depended on it - and gave a little "preview" of just how the R-R 787 "competitor" in name and outside FAA jurisdiction only - would perform in real revenue service at 70,000+ lbs. "continuous" even at only one or two "redlines". "Grounded" for years and years at least as far as entering U.S. airspace and/or carrying U.S. citizen "pax". And the delicious "irony" is that a big chunk of the Trent-powered 787 "fleet" is actually owned by G.E. Aviation Capital and is "leased" to "European" and "Commonwealth" airlines which do have to keep "their" planes "grounded" while paying the leases and maintaining the airframes in 100% airworthy condition and while putting 0 flight hours and cycles on them ensuring that when the leases are finally "up" for whatever reason and/or R-R finally gets them "ungrounded" by the FAA and an R-R powered 787 is "worthless" with its "original" engines but worth probably 90% of new airframe "MSRP" (Boeing sells ONLY airframes and NOT powerplants EXCEPT "sole source" airframe-powerplant combo "variants" and its a foregone conclusion the next Boeing "7X7" will NOT have powerplant "alternatives" to GE) without those boat anchors and worth a premium over "new list price" if "NEOed" with the GenX R-R never should have even "bluffed" competiting with in the first place which is exactly what happened and when it got "called" along with their 90,000+ lbs of HOT AIR "sealed the deal" on a "Trent" or any other "triple-spool" TRAINWRECK "launching" or even "partnering" on a Boeing "heavy" ever again.

i thought the composite technology for heat enduring jet engine blades was ceramic matrix composites CMC not carbon fibre composites CFC,

GE uses both technologies. For the extreme heat of the turbines, ceramic matrix (CMC) is indeed used. But for the Fan - on both the GE90 & GEnx engines - which is driven by the low-pressure coaxial shaft, carbon fibre composite has been used instead, making the fan lighter.

How is she for compressor stall recovery? How well does she handle foreign objects ingestion? What sort of fuel consumption? Do you out source components or in house the entire engine? How many can you produce per month?

What a beautiful engine yesterday I just bought a model display of the GE-90 can't wait to get it and display it I love the sound of GE-90 and I love seeing them on the Triple 7 beautiful just sheer beautiful thank you for Designing such a beautiful piece of machinery for us aircrafts lovers.

The 737 MAX 8 uses LEAP-1B engines made by CFM International, a joint venture of General Electric and Safran. They should have told Boeing that these engines are not fitting on 737 MAX8
