@@GebahiArtworks I just read your artist statement and see that we have a teacher in common, Roger Bansemer. I personally took lessons with Roger for a couple of years. Then painted with him weekly in his studio live portrait group in his Clearwater studio in the 90's. I consider him to be my greatest teachers as he never held information back and gave 110%. Your work is what I consider masterful and I can see Rogers influence in your work also in your teaching style and giving 110% to the students that you are influencing.

I agree with you. Subtlety is key. We've all seen lots of high chroma paintings on You Tube that look garish and cartoonish. Mixing subtle colors makes beautiful paintings. I really love your color mixtures and how you gray the colors. I always look forward to seeing your videos. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for being so instructive about the process as you paint, I am learning tonnes from you. One difficulty I have is adding fine details such as the sea oats and grasses on the RHS of yours. The underpainting is tackie from two days ago, I'm using linseed medium, ( not liquin or galcan ) and the paint just won't come off the brush and stick to it. When I make it thiner, it flows on but then disperses into the paint beneath. Any ideas? - thanks again.
@GebahiArtworks4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response Kevin!! The first layer needs to be thin, the linseed oil in the first stage is not helping, you’ll just get it muddy. That’s why I use Liquin or Galkyd fro Gamblin! They help speed the drying time of the first layer so that you can put a thicker layer above that! Always start thin and go thicker subsequently. Use linseed oil for the subsequent layers, unless you’re doing alla prima, which is all in one sitting, even then you have to map out your painting before starting and and have to be careful! The key is start thin!
@debricci85334 жыл бұрын
What brush do use for the finer strokes and sea oats! Type, brand size, please. Hope you do more oils. Thanks, Deb

I’m having trouble getting the liner brush to make the quick grass strokes without running out of paint. Any advice?
@GebahiArtworks2 жыл бұрын
Dilute the paint to a thin consistency to be able to make finer strokes, you will need to dip into you paint after every 2 maybe 3 strokes! Sadly I wish we could make more than 3 strokes but that’s just the way it is, Lol ! I know it’s a pain, I have to deal with the same inconveniences!

Beautiful painting, as usual. How did you tint the canvas before you started the painting?
@GebahiArtworks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! You can use acrylics to tint your canvas before starting. I used burnt sienna! I used acrylics because it’ll dry fast so you don’t have to wait unlike using oils to tint which takes anywhere between 15-30mins to set up.

Please use oil painting more often. Thanks

Will try, it’s because acrylics dry fast and I can do the painting in one stage. Oils would be I 2 stages for me, but no worries, I’ll try to get more oil paintings for you !
