Louise Dixon hi, it’s not always necessary! I wanted my highlights to come through a little more. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t, it all depends on the overall style of painting I’m doing! And sometimes if use a toned background it’s because I want it to show through a little to give some effects!

I WOULD LIVE TO SEE YOUR PALLET AS YOU PAINT! JUST TO TELL WHAT YOUR PROCESS IS AND WHAT YOU CONSIDER “a touch” of yellow or white. Does that make sense?😂

It is, practice, practice, practice!!! I hated acrylics when I first started and almost threw them away, but as you learn to control them it gets easier !!
