I believe the bone would be cattle shin as this is the most commonly used bone by GEC. They also use camel and giraffe but they are less common and named when used. Lovely knife, I have a few GECs and the quality is excellent.

Thank you very much! I have heard cow bone thrown about now that you mention it! My #77 is camel bone and it's a beauty if quite pink!

Thanks for finally reviewing this one, it has caught my eye every time it has made a brief appearance in your other videos. Very handsome piece. Cheers.

Absolutely love love love this knife. Pretty much any GEC is out if my price range at the minute but I've seen a few that really do make me want to make the effort to save up for them.

Thanks for the shout out man amazing video idk about that leather punch but the other blades look good
@UKLegalCarryKnives5 жыл бұрын
Actually, although it is very rare, it has come in handy twice, once actually as a leather punch for a belt, the other to put a hold in something else but it's nowhere near as used as the blade, nice to have a different tool though, I can hardly see the need for three blades on one knife!
@edclife87735 жыл бұрын
@@UKLegalCarryKnives ye I never really see a need for more than 1 blade on a knife
@UKLegalCarryKnives5 жыл бұрын
@@edclife8773 eh, 1 backup is good in case you ding the first or need a smaller blade for more public areas imo.

I finally got one Al! Actually I got two - the first one I was able to get my hands on was in Stag, and it's so lovely I'm loth to use it. Then I was lucky enough to get it in this same Blood Red JB, and it's a great user. Such a good colour as you say, although my jigging isn't quite as great as yours - but no blade play at all on mine!

Beautiful timeless #29 - I reckon you will use this for life. Unless we're talking modern supersteels, I only expect a blade to stay sharp for a day's moderate use - 1095 achieves this in my experience. Watched this with my #44 (Tidioute Gabon Ebony) in hand, and you are dead right about the ergonomic issue. What is the point of the gunstock handle when the unused blade fouls the grip? But honestly who cares when it's this beautiful?
@UKLegalCarryKnives5 жыл бұрын
I think you're right you know, I can't see myself ever wanting to let this one go! As for the grip, you're right! I look at my #44 and before I can get all annoyed at the grip the beautiful jigging distracts me instead! Cheers -Al

I love this knife. My blade steel is fine, sharpens quickly. Not a heavy user, so I guess I would really not notice any less edge retention than other knives I have. I have 3V fixed blades, but I just do not expect that in a slip joint. Not that I would object to GEC jumping to a higher end steel, but I would hate them to cut corners on the manufacturing just to have a more costly steel. I see Lionsteel has with M390 in some barlow style, but their slip joints are not as traditional, nor are the tolerences as tight.
