Me too. I’ve seen them dozens of times live, Niel was my role model as an early drummer when I was 12 years old. I never had the pleasure of meeting them in person, but they’re terrific human beings by all reports. I remember fondly when Alex was a guest actor on the series called “trailer Park boys.“ He was freaking hilarious.

@@Chris_the_Dingo My first concert, as well. Junior in HS. It was the Permanent Waves tour, Mar. 7, 1980. I heard the 2112 album a few days before the show and was hooked. I also saw shows for Moving Pictures, Grace Under Pressure, Presto, and Snakes and Arrows. Greatest band, nay, orchestra, that I've ever seen. That 3 musicians could make that much music still amazes me to this day. Their music has been a part of my life ever since that first show.

Geddy and Alex were more to Neil than just bandmates, and even more than just friends. They were his protectors. His whole life, they stood between Neil and the general public, which was a huge relief for such a private person. When tragedy struck, Geddy and Alex waited patiently until their friend came back to them. And when Neil was diagnosed, Geddy and Alex shut down the band in a graceful manner, without ever revealing the truth. They took all the questions, interviews, and all the heat as to why the band ended. What a beautiful friendship...

I think they were great for their first 8 albums, and then got super bland. The R40 Tour was great though; the second set after intermission was sort of like a combination of "Exit Stage Left" and "All The World's A Stage". The trajectory of their musical evolution from their inception through to the early 80s was a progression from a fairly straightforward and not particularly complex - though _really_ good - bluesy hard rock/proto-metal sound to an increasingly complex mix of hard rock with proggy elements that eventually blossomed into an incredibly unique sound. Unfortunately, in my opinion at least, whatever their motivations or lack thereof were, after "Moving Pictures" their sound changed radically and for the worse, becoming a very typically 80s overproduced synth dominated band.

I have never cared when other bands stopped playing or a member had passed away but I was almost in tears when I heard about Neil. Rush is a band that never gave me the sense that they were untouchable superstars who were so much better than we mortals. There was an actual sense that these were people who might just show up at your backyard bbq and sit down and have a beer with you and talk about their lives and their music and whatnot. They had stopped full-scale touring before the Filoblastoma diagnosis, but after Neil Peart’s arthritis and tendinitis made him have to stop. When Alex Lifeson announced in 2018 that Rush was done, it was most likely after the diagnosis, and by the time that this interview took place, Geddy Lee could speak with after-knowledge of the full extent of the challenges facing his band-mate. Until 2018, there was the implied hope that stand-alone concerts would still be possible. Geddy Lee clearly knew something here that the rest of us didn’t until this last week. I have no doubt that they were informed of his passing on the same day, and kept quiet to help the family grieve and prepare for the onslaught.

I’m 45 years old and have been a rush fan since I was in the 4th grade. Never was able to see them live but these three amazing musicians have been with me through the greatest times of my life and even helped drag me through some of the ugliest times as well. It seems somewhat crazy to feel this way but Rush is and always will be part of my family. I spent part of 2017 and all of 2018 in the hospital fight acute myeloid leukemia. When I was first admitted to the hospital I was in bad shape and I’ll never forget when the Oncologist came into my exam room and just blurted out to my wife , daughter and I that the results from biopsy were in and they didn’t think I was gonna survive the weekend. My love for my friends and family and being determined to see our daughter graduate from St. Edwards UnIversity gave me motivation to fight and things like listening to all my favorite kick ass Rush tunes gave me the strength I needed to kick leukemia’s ass. Plus when I first started losing my hair talk about the perfect opportunity to crank up “ I think I’m Goin’ bald” haha. The nurses on the oncology floor thought it was awesome and said it was gonna be the new fight song for all the men and women that are desperately fighting for their lives. Thank you to Geddy, Alex, and Neil for a lifetime of amazing tunes that have become a part of my family and are cherished like a priceless heirloom u M

In the Summer of 2112, I mean 1977, my friend Ed walked up to me with his 8-track The Cube. He popped the tape in and we sat and listened. Listening still, what a great band.

They're multi-millionaires. If, by chance, they were at this same age, and like a lot of rock musicians, weren't smart with their money and were broke - believe me - they'd be touring to gobble up the needed cash. Don't put people on a pedestal.

The first time I heard “Limelight”, I was hooked on Rush. Seeing them live was a highlight in my life and their music will always be special to me. They definitely put their stamp in music history as one of the greatest bands to ever hit the airwaves.

I was able to see 2 of those shows in NY and Las Vegas. My last opportunities because I was never able to see them before. My favorite band. Best band ever..

Learned to play bass by listening to Geddy. I still play exactly like that 40 years on.

So classy, and so relaxed and accomplished. It has been an absolute privilege to be a Rush fan these last 40 years. Thanks to Geddy, Alex, and Neil for their dedication to the craftsmanship of songwriting, recording, and performing. And for all of those live shows that Neil, in particular, didn't always enjoy.

One of the most talented bands in music history. I saw RUSH in Toledo, Ohio Sports Arena for the Grace Under Pressure Tour. Class act, well spoken and extremely positive people. 🙏
