Thanks for a very helpful run-through on the footswitches; I just got my GP200JR and wanted to set up FS3 to drop in a bit of delay, but the manual was less than useful. Looking forward to more GP200 content!

@@Tone-Quest got a question, since sometimes we jam without a bass player. so do you think it's possible to use the bass effect here to make my guitar sounds as bass? Im planning to put the bass effects into the loop before I get to the guitar effect
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 8 ай бұрын
@@teng.youtube Yeah, I think that is totally achievable. Under the "PRE" you have effects such as OCTA (polyphonic octave effect), Pitch (Polyphonic pitch shifter/harmonizer) and P-Bend (Polyphonic pitch shifter/harmonizer), which would allow you to essentially disable the dry guitar signal and only allow a low pitch or octave through. Pair that with a bass Overdrive, a bass amp and a bass EQ and I think you could probably come up with a believable bass tone.

By far the best, straight-to-the-point guide video I have ever seen on Valeton GP 200. Just one more, can you combine 2 delays simultaneously and control them with a single tap? Like the first delay is a quarter, and the other is dotted 8th. Thanks.

No, unfortunately you can’t add two delays natively, but you could if you added an external delay using the effects loop.

Yes it is possible. The external footswitch can be assign to be CTRL 1, 2, 3 or 4. It is then possible to assign any effect type to be switched on and off with any of the CTRL switches.

@@masterkulot I’ve heard and read things like the following… “The newest firmware just released today fixed my main issue with the GP200 The patches have always switched AFTER you release the footswitch, causing a delay going to the next patch. Now, the patches switch when you press the footswitch.” …but, I did a quick test today and still felt like it was changing on the release. Maybe I dig through the menus again to see if there is a setting I can tweak.

Question, how do you switch from preset 01a to, for example 29d , what it the order of switches? I’m trying to figure out how to use this live with simple single switch usage
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 4 ай бұрын
Under Settings, and foot switches are three modes for how the switches are configured. The three modes are: Patch Mode, Stomp Mode and User Mode. The top row of switches from top left to top right are referred to as FS1: FS2, FS3, and FS4. The bottom row of switches from bottom left to bottom right are: FS5, FS6, FS7, and FS8. FS1-FS8 can recognize if the switch is tapped "TAP" or if it is pressed and held down "HOLD". Out of the box, the GP-200 comes in Patch Mode. In patch mode you can "TAP" or "HOLD" FS1 to bank down and also you can "TAP" or "HOLD" FS2 to bank up. So in your example, of switching from preset 01a to 29d, you would have to bank up 29 times and then press the bottom right switch (FS8) to go to patch 29d. I would say this is one thing I really like about the GP-200, the switches are very configurable. There are certain functions I would like to assign to a switch but I can't, so it is not perfect, but it is very flexible. I hope that helps, Good Luck.
@ClNoBody
@ClNoBody 4 ай бұрын
For live - you would copy your patches to a section below to have only a tap or two. Don’t think there is any direct patch access.

Great video and very useful!! Is it possible to have all 8 footswitches as patches? I mean when you tap them to work as patches and when for example you hold one of them, it could be the tuner. Another couple of them, with hold, could be bank up and down. Could I do this? I just bought it and I try to figure out, what would be better for me. Thanks!
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 11 ай бұрын
So you want the 8 foot switches to select 8 different patches? If so, then I would say this would probably not work since each bank contains 4 patches. So when you are in a bank of 4 patches it is easy to bounce between any of those four but I don’t think there is a way to select 4 different patches not in that bank.

is there a way to one control assignment to switch off when i press another control assgnment? as an example if a set OD and Delay to ctl1 and maybe chorus and delay to ctl2 can i set ctl1 to completely switch off and go to ctl2 when i press that?
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 3 ай бұрын
@@ashandesilvaguitarist Good question, In your scenario of… Ctl1 =OD & Delay Ctl2 = Chorus & Delay With Ctl1 engaged, can you step on Ctl1 to turn off OD & Delay and automatically have Ctl2 engaged to turn on Chorus & Delay? No To my knowledge a Ctl can only toggle the state of an effect or the state for a group of effects. A Ctl can’t enable or disable another Ctl. In your example of… Ctl1 =OD & Delay Ctl2 = Chorus & Delay If you were on a patch, and you pressed Ctl1 to turn on the OD and the Delay, if you pressed Ctl2, it would turn off the Delay and turn on the Chorus. I hope that helps, and feel free to ask more questions or run by any scenario and I’ll try to answer it, as best that I can.

This is really informative, but how did you change the colours of the footswitches? Is it possible to do it without the software?
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest Жыл бұрын
The foot switched toggle from yellow to red when they change states. So I just ensure when I configured mine that off was yellow and red was on. I think is easier to configure via the software app but it is possible to configure via the unit and not use the software. It will depend on how you have the global foot switch configured and in regards to the foot switch state and color will be configured per patch under “Patch Settings”.

Can you assign 8 effect pedals plus 2 or 4 effect in a external fooswitch, similarly to a pod hd 500 manual/stomp mode? thanks
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 7 ай бұрын
I'm not 100% sure I follow your question in its entirety, but I think at the heart of it you want to know if you can assign and use all the footswitches to enable/disable effects. You can assign the on-board eight footswitches to one or more effects. With the external footswitch, you can use an expression pedal, a single footswitch or a dual footswitch. So, regarding effects, the external footswitch can only be assigned to CTRL 1, 2, 3, or 4. So in essence, the max number of effect blocks you could control with an external dual footswitch is two (assuming you only assign one effect to one switch). The Valeton has 11 effect blocks, but four of them I don’t think you would want to enable/disable: Volume, Wah-Wah, amp and Cab. So that leaves 7 effect blocks that you would want to enable/disable on the demand: NR, PRE, DST, EQ, MOD, DLY & RVB. So hopefully the onboard eight footswitches will cover your needs. One function I wish the on-board or external footswitches could do is enable/disable the effect Loop, as I think that could be very handy. Nonetheless, I hope that helps answer your question, but if I’ve misunderstood the intent of your question, please feel free to verbose and I’ll be more than glad to answer with hopefully more accuracy.

From what you've said I think you can do what I would want but just to check. If I set A, B, C, D with 4 basic rhythm tones, could I then assign different effects for each patch to the top row of switches. Eg set A as patch 1 (clean rhythm) with ctrl (i) Boost, (ii) Boost with increased reverb (iii) chorus, (iv) autowah. Then B as patch 2 with a different set of assigns. Can you assign more that one thing to the top row of buttons and can you assign parameters such as increasing overdrive or reverb? Also, can the buttons be set to 'moment', ie only while your foot is on the button. Thanks.
@Tone-Quest
@Tone-Quest 4 ай бұрын
I would say some of what you asked for can be achieve, but some of your wants are beyond the current programmability of the unit. 1. Set A as patch 1 (clean rhythm) with ctrl (i) Boost? Yes 2. (ii) Boost with increased reverb? No. If you programmed switch (ii) to Boost also and the Boost was already on, pressing the 2nd switch would turn it off. If by chance the Boost was off and you pressed switch (ii) then yes the Boost would come on. Unfortunately you can't change the parameters of an effect. So you can't press a switch to increase reverb. 3. (iii) chorus? Yes 4. (iv) autowah? Yes 5. Can the buttons be set to 'moment', ie only while your foot is on the button? No Currently, with the way the switches are programmed you can't change an parameter of an effect. I guess the only way to achieve that would be via MIDI. That being said, I do like the way you are thinking and I wish it had just a little more flexibility in the manner in which you program pedals. I also wish they would allow the ability to be enabled or disable the effects loop with a switch.

This is a very good, clear video, thanks. But unless I'm missing something (& I hope I am) I think there's a BIG problem. Whatever patch you're in although you can customise the 4 bottom switches in each patch to turn on/off different effects, you have to remember what you've set each of the 4 bottom switches to do. In a live gigging situation, where you're using multiple different patches, that's useless. Or have I got that wrong?

Thank you Sir and I would say you understand it correctly. So to help me in this regard, I only put “Pre” effect on the “A” foot switch, “Distortion” on the “B” foot switch, “Modulation” on the “C” foot switch and “Delay” on the “D” foot switch. Maybe not a perfect system but it helps me a little bit of a guide line to follow as I program each patch.

I know this question was posted awhile ago, but in case anyone else was wondering about this you can go in global settings and display and change the view to "signal chain" and it will show the pedals on the screen you have selected/deselected. When you click a ctrl switch, the corresponding pedal then illuminates or darkens on the screen showing which one you are controlling.

Can you switch between stomp mode and patch mode by using a footswitch?

Good question, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to do that. Which is probably why I set mine up for User Mode and I use a hybrid of Patch Mode and Stomp Mode, plus I use an external switch with two buttons that allows me to Patch Up and Down.
