I love your take on not upgrading the storage. The second I got mine last week I've been looking into upgrading storage to the max I can find. But I think you're right about the limitations almost being a feature, limiting your options just enough to encourage you playing games in the sea of infinite choice we have nowadays. I'll stick to base storage now, thanks for the advice! I love your personality, you seem super excited and passionate about the love of games, it absolutely rubs off on the viewer :)

The 42W gpu power consumption is real consumption from the SPPT and FPPT settings, the base clock is 30w but it can boost up to 53w when plugged in, you want to use a charger with PD 65w or above.

@@Geekceptionand one more thing to make it easier to get into hibernate, you can open the start/search bar and type in "power" and you should see an option called "edit power plan", click on it, in the opened window go up^ one folder, so back into "power options", on the left side you will see an option called "Choose what the power buttons do", from there you can set up the hibernate as default action for the power button instead of the default sleep mode.

I upgraded my ssd to 2tb, and yes, i agree with you it is pointless unless you have a big library of roms. I usually play two to four games at the same time, and you don't need 2tb ssd for that, even with big size ssd i usually play a game, finish it, uninstall it and download the new one. The 512 ssd will motivate you to finish the game and move to a new one.

I have a 2tb ssd installed and I filled it with games and I'm finding so far I'm playing a lot more games than I would've. Only I'm not finishing many as I keep hopping around. But I love the fact that I can jump between any game for whatever I'm in the mood for without having to download and install all the time. Also I had a bad experience with sleep mode. I have the jsaux case which I love but the top part covers the vent and my ally woke up without me knowing and cooked my baby for hours as I also had it on the charger so it wouldn't die. Turned it off and let it cool overnight. Somehow it's fine.

Honestly I always upgrade my drives to 2TB having a really slow internet connection or no internet at all where you live makes it a good option when you go visit friends or family that have a fast connection to just download a bunch of games. If you have a fast connection then just uninstall and reinstall as you need but if you constantly bounce around between 10 or 20 games it's worth the upgrade or just get a couple of 1TB micro sd cards if your card reader doesn't burn out...

I'm going to ask a genuine question, and its going to sound rude, but I promise it is not meant that way. BUT, why is it, that every person whos native language is not english, or anyone from another country who is trying to speak English, pronounces the word DESK top as DEX top. Is it because of a misfire of the tongue? Is it just how it was taught to you? Or is it something else. I ask, because, I am a white, English speaking American, and I am learning Spanish, and I have a hard time rolling my R's and saying certain words. I don't know what prompted me to ask you this question, but i heard you say the word a bunch of times, and I feel I need an education on the subject.

Is anyone else having trouble with EA not recognizing the built in controller or a stand alone? For some reason it will switch back and forth mid game. One moment it will show as an xbox style controller then randomly show as a mouse and keyboard. Makes racing games impossible. Go to turn left or right and itll look left and right while steering slightly.

Of course I downloaded FSR 3 AMD to get this high Frame rates. But the battery life is not good enough in the Rog Ally, you need to be connected to the charger all the time as I play in bed.

You Should STILL Buy The ROG Ally, Here's Why kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHjTq4Obm9iki7Msi=QFxqDkWDo51v-Uiv

I actually play more games with upgraded ssd. I’ve only upgraded it into 1TB tho, but hoping for 2TB in the future. I have xsx, switch, ps5, iPad Pro, gaming laptop, then rog ally. Rog ally is currently my favourite device. As you can imagine my game library is huge, so many games I haven’t played, or played but want to occasionally revisit it/show case to my friends. Rog Ally with huge capacity actually perfect for that. My main console is ps5, to play AAA with adaptive trigger experiences. So that means some games (if I buy it twice) or it is on game pass, I could revisit or play it again with different experiences on ROG. Then games, good but not my priority, I can put them on ROG to remind me, and if they’re really good needs my proper attention I can move onto other platforms (some with sharing progress) especially some cute/indie titles can be played on touchscreen, or some games that I can do cross platform when I’m at my friends’ (so I don’t have to bring laptop or other devices). Another reason is ROG ally is really good for showcasing, with the launcher you recommend, people are just interested and want to try out the games I have all the time. And last, I even use it to carry lots of my media files, and some of work files, including some of my favourite purchased series and movies, this way the 1T is really great for me to use it as a proper laptop 💻

you need more than a 30w charger so the battery actually charges while you're playing. Say if your charger is only 45w and your device TDP is set to 30w then device is drawing more than 30w total so its barely even going to charge. It's got absolutely nothing to do with Asus wanting to scare people into using the official 65w charger. Also you can use 3rd party tools to push the TDP up to 40w and when set to that the peak power draw of the device is 54w. "Don't upgrade your storage is a terrible tip" You gave no real negatives to that only saying that it will force you to only keep games you are going to play. The fact is some people play a lot of games and also loves to replay a lot of their older favourites and some like to go back and forth as well as letting relatives or partners use the device and they may want to play different games and the fact is a lot of modern games now are huge, for example Assassins Creed Valhalla is 160GB and Borderlands 3 is 138GB, you could literally fill up that 512GB SSD with less than 5 games these days and nobody likes wating for games to download, especially if you don't have very good broadband speeds, I still come a cross people have DSL connections so they end up waiting days for games to download. Another reason to upgrade the SSD is SD cards are slow and while games are still perfectly playable, even larger ones, they take longer to load and SD cards have very low write endurance while also not being very cost effective. There's also the fact that many users have had issues with their Ally frying the SD cards and in some cases its on SD card reader controller as well, and while that issue has been mostly resolved it still gets your SD cards hot. I upgraded my SSD to a 4TB crucial P3 for £172, I run Linux on mine so I enabled BTRFS compression and I've good 200 games on it ready to play. I often go back and forth between games and so do many other people I know, it's nice to have all my games there ready to play, not have to delete and redownload especially considering some of the older games I play do not support cloud saves. The only real negative to upgrading the SSD is the new SSD will likely have higher power consumption which will reduce battery life, but it will only reduce it by a few minutes at the most.

One of the tricks I want to share is to enable turbo mode (30/43/53) using jsaux 603 dock. I found a solution to flash latest bios (method available on jsaux blog) of the jsaux dock which unlocked the turbo mode using this dock with original Asus charger that comes with the Ally
