Very concise and clear playthrough, thank you. Your play style matches my own almost exactly. This has been my favorite Print & Play game for many years, so much that I actually need to reprint & rebuild it because I'm wearing my cards out! It's a pity that there just aren't games like this out there. One of these days I'm going to use this same mechanic and design an entirely new story with these mechanics. There needs to be more out there than just this one story, IMO.

Hey, GG. I found this video through your Geek of the Week thread on BGG; dunno how it escaped me when you posted it! Anyhow, this game reminds me of a more modern Choose Your Own Adventure in a deck game called The 7th Continent. Have you tried it? I have never played it myself, only saw some things about it here and there, but to me it seems like something you would enjoy. Also, have you tried Barbarian *Pr* ince? How do you think both Vince and Prince (:D) compare?
@GeekGamers014 жыл бұрын
Hi @allluckyseven I have heard of 7th Continent but somehow not been too drawn to it (which surprises me, as it does seem up my alley). Barbarian Prince is a fun, random paragraph-based overland adventure. I believe you can find the files for it free online and it's well worth it. Be prepared to die... there's not a ton of strategy but it tells a fun story.
@ThePandionknight6 жыл бұрын
I have the PnP files for this. As far as I can see, there’re 10 letters assigned to different terrains. I’d try rolling a d10 die instead of drawing from the deck? See how this affects game play.

Thanks! Great video, it has made way clearer the game. I have two doubts: - In a combat, if I happen to lose a single round (say it's a three round combat, and I fail the third roll), does that mean instant failure? I suppose I die when I'm no longer able to discard/exhaust cards, right? - Can I use the items AFTER a failed roll in order to pass the test that way? Thanks again.

Fernando Suarez Glad you enjoyed it and I think you’ve got it right: it’s quite easy to die in this game (at least when I’m playing)!

First, thank you for making this video of the game. I believe it is the only one in English online. (You might want to add a link on BGG). However, there were a few things that I believe need correction. At 5:44 you state that you only get the skill benefit on the map card while you are in that ma area. Actually, once the card is in your hand, you get that benefit no matter where you are on the map. (You do not discard map cards when you leave the area). Secondly, the X0 card is flipped to the Captains Pass item after your setup is complete (it says keep this card as an item). Note that when you finished your first mission and returned to Ulendi, you should have drawn a common item as a reward. Finally, with regard to the speed number (approximately 32:30 on the video): The speed number is the number of cards per round that you can exhaust in an attempt to successfully pass the skill check (See "Multiple Skill Checks" in 3a of the rules). Strategy: You can help to minimize luck by travelling to all of the map areas, thus increasing your skills in many areas, and putting more cards into your hand to use in making skill checks. You can also use them in trade (since you can travel there again, and search up the card(s) again). I believe that this game has a lot of (infinite, really) replay-ability. It does, however, have limited "surprises." What I mean is, you will become familiar with the cards over time (though there are 150 or so encounters in the deck, so that will take a while). But, once you are familiar with the cards, your game play can be better tuned because you will have a better idea of what you need to do to win. I suggest that you keep track of how many years it takes you to get your Major Victory. Then, each time you play, you will try to beat your best score (you can even count the cards that you have discarded as weeks; so if it took you four years to achieve a Major Victory, and you have 12 cards in the discard pile, the adventure took you 4 years and 12 weeks to complete. This is your score to beat for the next game. Thank you again for doing the video. It is great to see this game get more exposure. I think it is a jewel-box of a game.

Captain Nolan Thanks for the clarifications. I thought I corrected the map card mistake later in the vid but perhaps not. The other errors do stand and I appreciate your comment fixing them. And your strategy tips are well made too. Glad you enjoyed the vid and I appreciate the thoroughness of your comments about it.

What is the advantage of having this on cards, rather than in a booklet with numbered paragraphs?
@GeekGamers013 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how to answer the question. It’s a card game and relies on the mobility and dual use nature of cards to work.. A paragraph booklet would be an entirely different thing.

13:30 cards you discard while searching for a card you just put back onto the top of the deck. Cards you used go under the deck. Game becomes much better that way. And yes, cards you equip have their random number taken out, which is by design. By using a d20 you’re sabotaging that system.

Does using the die make the game slightly easier? Since it means it will take a bit longer to reach the one year later card because you are not drawing for random numbers when it is called for.
