Appreciate the review. Helped me make my decision on a table.

Already built and ready to put in my future house games room when I move in September! Glad to hear it was worth it and I didn't lose out onNot having led lights!

I've been using one of these table for the last year and adore it. I agree with everything Zee said about it, but wanted to add a couple of things. I avoided the LED lights, because this table is of such a high quality - it's like a heirloom piece - the lights seem out of place in a quality piece of furniture. With regards to price, it is no more expensive than a high-quality dining table (I'm not talking IKEA here... we're in the £1000-2500 bracket here depending on features). Zee didn't mention that the table is made to your chosen dimensions. I chose a size specifically so that the "vault" could fit a crokinole board within it. I agree that splitting the table into a "poker baize" section and a "raised wooden" section is extremely useful. You can add vertical wooden planks (called Strake boards) which bookend each side of the vaulted section and stop dice etc rolling under the wooden slats. I have two strake boards, and frequently play with a raised section at each end of my "vault". This is ideal for placing snacks, phones etc while reserving the felt section specifically for the game. This is my favourite feature of the table - it's totally adaptable to different situations and sizes of game. I can vouch for the customer service of the company. I have got to know Marcin over the past year since purchasing the table from him, often running into him at conventions. Make no mistake, this is a company that cares about its product and looks after its customers. Worst thing about the table... I'm terrified of letting anyone near it with dry-wipe markers when playing Telestrations, Loony Quest, Panic on Wall Street etc! I'm sure it would wipe off but I don't want to find out!

Adam's Boardgame Wales ...have you had any issues with the rail accessories? It seems like they could break off quite easily, especially with some friends over and having beers ;)

Anyone going to Gencon can take a look at a Denis table at the Passport Games booth. I believe they'll be demoing Tokaido there and I'll be stopping by myself at times to answer questions about the table. We'll be in Essen of course and we'll be formally rolling out at BGG Con in November.

I think you could design the lights a bit different, maybe shining onto a gloss white edge at a lower brightness. Very tempted to make one of these my next woodwork project.

Hey Zee, thanks for the review. I have the same table myself in a lighter shade. One cool thing you may have missed or at least did not mention is that the inside groove around the table is a neat place to place cards up for each player. Otherwise are the slates on your table very tight when they are all in? For me the gap between slates can be 1-2mm wide because of the rubber pushing. Not a big deal but worth noting.
@christopherlarry6766 Жыл бұрын
How has your table held up after all these years?
@Nikleas Жыл бұрын
@@christopherlarry6766 pretty good. There is still a large groove between the slate so I put a 2-3mm thick plastic sheet on the whole table to avoid spillage. I take it out during game night. Kept the table in fairly good condition despite young kids around.

The spill-prevention system is brilliant. Thank you.

Yeah, especially when you spill red wine on that table and you have a nice white carpet underneath.
@MrJosh97406 жыл бұрын
You could use the plexiglas over the felt and completely avoid spill damage. Nice

GEEKNSON were super nice at Essen, really good at demoing their stuff and made the product make sense. Problem with gaming tables is that they need a lot of space and if you use it as dinner table you probably don't have it in your gaming room.

Every time I watch one of these video, I'm left wondering "Did they buy that? Did they get it for free from the publisher or manufacturer? Or did they receive money to feature that product or game on the channel?". Is that explained somewhere and I missed it?
@thedicetower8 жыл бұрын
Just assume that we always got it from the publisher. And that we have got nothing else, no fees, nothing.
@LazyNeutrino8 жыл бұрын
+The Dice Tower Thank you for the clarification. I will do that.
@gnomersy10878 жыл бұрын
If they received money to feature the product I believe they are legally required to disclose that information in a clear manner so it's probable a reviewer hasn't if they don't mention it. However getting free product to review is pretty much the norm for anything on youtube if your brand is big enough. Personally I find that it's a pretty obvious move by the producers of the products to create a more favorable review environment since there's a big psychological difference between looking at a product which you didn't pay for versus one that you have so it's important to take review videos with a couple grains of salt when they talk about how worth it a high priced luxury item is.
@StefanLopuszanski7 жыл бұрын
As others have said, just assume they got it for free or at a sharp discount. Tom Vasel has said he got his last two table at a super discount, but he still paid for it. If that means he paid $1 or $100 he won't say.

We here at Sweet Strats have come up with our own line of gaming tables inspired by the artisanal crafts of Texas trailer park dwellers. They are crafted by taking only the most reasonably priced card tables, setting them up next to each other and taping the legs of the table together with only the finest of duct tapes. Next we take felt harvested from refuse piles of craft stores that are going out business and loosely drape it over the top. Look for our kickfarter coming soon!

LOL... 2 folding banquet tables (Walmart) each 30"x6' side by side or in any combination per game requirements, 1 4x8, 1 4x6 and 1 4x4 pieces of oak plywood 1/4" for various game requirements and a couple of cheap table clothes to cover plywood along with various sizes plexiglass and you have a nice versatile gaming table for under $300 to fit just about any reasonable game size not to mention you can take it down in 10 minutes to store. Heck... carve holes out of plywood for your drinks if you must ;-) and save your money for the games! Worked for me all these years.

Isn't this table supposed to have a rail system underneath to store the leafs when playing?
@Rokkrr8 жыл бұрын
That table was made before we started offering the storage system. Most tables have that available as a feature now.

Those attachable trays for the outer perimeter...look VERY "break-off-able."
@TheBoardGameHut8 жыл бұрын
They're plenty sturdy, but yes, they are designed to break if too much weight is put on them.....it's better for the accessory to break than the side of your table ;)
@Rokkrr8 жыл бұрын
Yes, as stated, they're designed to break rather than rip out the side of your table. They're lots cheaper to replace than to fix your table.
@gheilers8 жыл бұрын
Sure, design-wise, it is smarter to have them break before the actual table breaks. It just seems an odd design choice to have such extensions hanging off the edge of the table, in the first place. Even with the most careful and cautious users...those things will STILL be in the way. :-)

In 100x150 cm size, with delivery and with the leaves and some of the accessories. With led lighting, material white oak can be easily between 3-4.000€. But quality work I think. www.geeknson.com/?page_id=190

+Mark S The kickstarter didn't fail Mark. It was started sooner than it should've so they took it down. The kickstarter for the Taylah Geeknson table starts today. It's actually really nice and the price is unbelievable.
@Mark-OutWest8 жыл бұрын
I think we're bandying the semantics. You start a kickstarter, not enough people are interested in backing it so you cancel it. That's a failure. The marketing department there can call it whatever they want.
