I’ve been waiting a while now too. And I’m still not fully impressed when they do update to 2.1 as it still won’t have native support for tvOS. No HUE app integration directly with the TV - LG, Sony, etc.

@@ahoyskidyou can always fix that with any streaming stick. I guess you are having in mind Netflix or Disney plus and those will all run in every Chromecast, or fire tv stick.

@@Bendersnatchling it’s just messy. I want a clean set up. TV to AVR. No switching or splitting HDMIs. But yes. There are many ways to work around it, some better than others for sure. It’s just a pity it can’t be done natively within LG webOS because of licensing & brand guidelines. Hardware wise, it’s fully capable especially the CX or newer when talking LG. I’d prefer to pay a license fee. Keep things simple. Just makes more sense to me personally. Not in a rush to pick up a sync box or any other obsolete piece of hardware. For Apps Plex etc, PC is fine. Yes, a refined experience with built in API would be amazing. But I won’t hold my breath.

Having a hdmi 2.1 capable TV and console, the limitations of the sync box are becoming ever more apparent. To me personally, it just seems like philips have given up on the syncbox and are doing nothing to improve the experience without customers needing to jank together workarounds. It's almost 5 years and they have not bothered updating the sync box or at least decreasing the sync box price since. At this point, I'm starting to question whether or not the lights are worth the hassle for such a high barrier of entry to get this all to work.
@SeanLazer Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking about buying this but this all seems like a massive hassle.
@insertnamehere8723 Жыл бұрын
@SeanLazer don't get me wrong, when it works, it works great. Otherwise, the setup process can be a pain in the ass in addition to the price of all the components and the aforementioned limitations - and thst isn'tgetting into voice assistant integration issues at times. Just as a side, for some reason, I get intermittent cutouts from the sync box and have to reset it by turning it on and off. If I didn't know better, it is like they are trying to push customers to their ambilight TVs, but I'm not gonna give up my objectivley superior TV for bias lighting. No way!
@stevenvanpelt486 Жыл бұрын
@@SeanLazer Same here. At first I got a heart attack when seeing the price of the complete kit (hub + sync box + light strip), but if I could just put it between my AVR and the TV without any hassle, it would be worth it. However, after reading into it, it became clear that this is just a legacy device which unnecessarily complicates things and introduces more hassle than it's worth.
@davellanos1824 Жыл бұрын
Fellows, just to give my two cents here, the HSB has been given an update a few months ago, and even with this the device has some limitation as for the 120 requested. Thus, you have two options; go the route that it has been presented on this video getting a workaround using the suggested set up, or skip on HSB altogether as they launch at tne beggining of the year, the HUE SYNC APP FOR SAMSUNG TV (selected model from late 2022 and more on 2023), you still need the hue brige and lights around the tv and also the hue account as well, I think, but once it is set up there is no lag or workaround needed as everything that is shown natively on the Tv set (obviously it will work with you built in Apps) will sync with the lights around thus avoiding all the hardware issues, so whichever the content shown will be able to sync without any hesitation. You can obviously check if it is an option for you pricewise and if it is go for it and refer to their website for this hue sync app for samsung to have more details if needed, but so far it would be the best option as to avoid cables, hardware woes, sources needed, and helps you out a bit, not much but a bit on your pockets. Once again this is a suggestion, and you made the decision as it is your hard earned money. Cheers.
@donnyvillan9 ай бұрын
They've definitely given up. I had a 2019 ambilight TV that didn't need a synch box, it was built in to the TV to control the lights. Upgraded to a 2023 version, without knowing they'd stopped the built in provision. So now if I want to synch lights to TV, I need a synch box at £230. No chance.

For anyone who had similar issues I just fixed mine. I own both a ps5 and an Xbox series x with a 4k 120hz tv so I wanted to be able to use both at full capacity along with my hue sync system. How I accomplished this was similar to this creators but slightly cheaper. I bought two(2) hdmi splitters off Amazon from the same brand as his but half the price. I’m not totally sure what the difference between them is but I was able to get one for each system for the price of his one item. They have a 4K function and a 1080p downscale function which I used to plug into the hue sync box since you wouldn’t be seeing the output anyways. It’s a mess of wires but when it’s all said and done you’re able to switch seamlessly between both systems at full capacity and with your lights synced up to it as well

It is a well known fact that the Philips Syncbox is unable to sync lights on a Dolby Vision signal, so I was wondering if this setup fixes this issue too (essentially the question is whether the HDMI splitter can somehow "remove" the Dobly Vision layer so that the Philips Syncbox can be fed a non Dolby Vision 1080p signal). HDMI 2.1! Here b/c I'm gonna try this setup with the Govee AI box and I'm hoping you can validate my plan: Xbox Series X going into the splitter and from there to the my XR-77A80J's HDMI port 4 for the 4k 120hz. The second output in the splitter will go to the Govee sync box. My UltraHD blu-ray player and cable box will go straight into the Govee sync box. And the Govee's output will go into the TV's HDMI port 2 (since those devices don't *need* 120hz). I'm going to run a cable from the XR-77A80J's HDMI port 3 (the only one that's EARC-enabled) straight to my soundbar. Does this all check out? And follow-up: Do I need HDMI 2.1 for all? I may need one more wall-rated cable that's over 10feet to sort this all out. Any recommendations on those (I know 2.1 over 10' isn't recommended). Thanks!

Would suck to have gone through all the effort and money I did to get screens, cables, graphics cards capable of that only to lose it for some light effects. it's harder than you'd think to get 4K 144Hz AND 10bpc chroma 4:4:4: working flawlessly. Granted such high level colour settings is wasted on games since none are designed for it but I do a lot of art on my system and so I need to keep it where it is really.

Does this solve the issue with the Sync Box being overloaded by 4K signal? Mine drops signal very regularly, causing the screen to go black from anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds.

What’s the setup if I use a receiver for all of my devices? I just use a single HDMI eARC from my receiver to my tv. Both tv and receiver are 120hz/VRR capable

did you do something extra with the splitter? like an update or something. My lights stop syncing at the time VRR is enabled. doesn’t matter what EDID is tuned on. and yes the switch is turned to 1080p. what kinda works for me is to turn the PS5s 4K-output to -1 what limits the HDR. the HDMI cable are all 2.1.

The flickering of the tv in the PS5 scenario is caused by the conflicting HDMI 2.0 and 2.1. PS5 requires 2.1 and will cause this kind of behavior if 2.0 is in the setup. Had the same experience unfortunately
@Atsuru Жыл бұрын
But isn't that the purpose of the splitter? My understanding of this workaround is that you are taking an HDMI 2.1 CEC signal and directly passing it to the TV via the splitter. The splitter simultaneously duplicates and downgrades the signal to the sync box. Bypassing the limitations of the sync box. Or is there something I'm missing?
@yihaoDK Жыл бұрын
have you tried manually setting the PS5 to only output at 2.1?
@markus0v Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this is not a fix. Even though your Xbox will show 4K120 because the HDMI handshake there is "correct". The chain is still downgraded with everything going through the sync box outputting max HDMI 2.0b. So what you will end up is a HDMI 2.1 signal containing only 2.0b data.
@mvburke331 Жыл бұрын
you missed the concept. The splitter sends one signal directly to the TV (4K120) and one signal to the synx box (for light control, only, no video output)
@markus0v Жыл бұрын
@@mvburke331Sorry you guys are right. I saw a similar but different concept but all in the same chain. This popped up in my feed and I connected it. With a splitter this indeed can be a fix.

Can I do something about losing synchronisation each time I'm changing game on PS5?
@redrosecounty Жыл бұрын
Just plugged in a Hue Bridge (was using them bluetooth direct to app before) and what did I discover? If you are using a PC you don't even need a Hue Sync Box!!! I downloaded the Hue App for the Microsoft store and it has a sync function. Just enable it on your PC. I get full Hue lighting sync across my OLED gradient light strip, gradient 2m+1m extension and Hue Play Bars at 4k, 144Hz 4:4:4 chroma since there is no hardware limitation involved. Your PC basically becomes the sync box by running the app in the system tray. A bit niche I know, not everyone is like me but for PC users with large screen tv's or even monitors with Hue lighting this is a big win.

The Hue bridge is the Hub of the system, if you want the syncing the you need the bridge, furthemore as these lights are designed for this purpose it is mandatory to have the bridge regardless to communicate with them, cheers.

I want to sync for 4k 120 fps for my PC and my PS5, how do I do that? Do I need two splitters? Or are there any splitters with two inputs ? As per my understanding the PC/PS5 will go into the input and the output 1 for the TV is the 4k 120fps while the output 2 downscales to 1080p for sync lighting?

Why cant the sync box hold tv pichture pre sets seperate for all the 4 hdmi inputs? Is that because the sync box has only one hdmi out?

SOLUTION: Yes, always the solution is in front of our eyes In this case below, when you flip the EZCOO splitter, there's a clear legend that if you have HDCP issues, just press the SELECT button for 5 seconds, and you're good to go... and that's how it works, so everything is already perfect.

Good evening, Please excuse me but I need your help. I am French speaking so sorry for the translation. Behind the splitter there are 3 HDMI ports, I would like to know which one goes on the TV, on the Philips Sync box and also on the console or the PC. Because I use a PlayStation 5 and an Nvidia 3080Ti gaming PC Since using only the Philips sync box, I am limited to 4K 60hz, I would like you to help me with the connection so that I can reach 4K 120Hz while using the lights from my ambilights. Thank you in advance for your help, best regards

The splitter takes one input can provides 2 output the first which os 4k 120hz goes to your TV and the second reduced resolution goes to the philips hue sync box.
@willyweston48348 ай бұрын
Thank you for your response, as I am French speaking it is difficult to understand the video but I think I am halfway there. So as input I connect the HDMI of the PlayStation 5 then as output 1 I connect the television and output two the Philips hue box. My problem is that I have two devices (a gaming PC and the PlayStation 5) So if I only connect the PlayStation 5 as input, there are more ports to also connect my gaming PC so I would like to know how did you connect your PlayStation and your Xbox? Since there is only one input and you already connected the Xbox, I want to know how you also connected the PlayStation. Waiting for an answer, sorry if I repeat myself but I hope you understand and can help me Sincerely
