This looks excellent and is an encouraging step in the right direction for making this available to the masses. At the top of the video, you mentioned that this box support ARC and eARC, and said you’d talk about it later. I’m not sure you brought that back up, but in my opinion, it’s not the inability for previous sync boxes to supposed 4k120 (and other gaming specs/options) that’s keeping people from buying, but rather it’s the majority of people use their TV as the source for all their content. That’s the whole reason ARC was invented, so the audio that’s being generated by the TV (built in apps) can be sent to an external audio system. So my question to you is is that the bit you were going to talk about later in the video? You mentioned you were playing Lion King from Disney+; were you doing that via the TV’s app? Or via your Shield? I think the bigger barrier to entry for the masses is that the masses use the TV’s apps and I have yet to see a sync box that can handle that. Thoughts?

@TheOfficialOriginalChadАй бұрын
1. No "wall sized" TVs for under $25k on the market. I am taking on clients if you want to know what those options are. If you have $26k to drop on a TV, you can afford me. 2. A legitimate 2,000 ANSI Lumen projector with an Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen comes in at about $5k.
@StormBurnXАй бұрын
@@TheOfficialOriginalChad I've sampled about a dozen of those kinds of projectors, both UST and traditional throw, on various 'modern' screens, including a few that looked pretty decent, but... I still, very much, do not want most of the compromises that come with a projector. Even the best ALR projection screens still only reduce ambient brightness by around 20-30%, which is simply not acceptable in large-window rooms during daylight - I enjoy light around the whole room, not just the screen. With that said, though, a ~$3000 100" television is about 7.3' x 4.2', which is plenty big for most 'wall size' TV ideas I had, that still allows for a minimalist entertainment center/console/table beneath, and LED stripping around the TV itself. After all, an ambilight clone is useless on a literal wall-sized TV ;) It's interesting to hear about the budget, though. It boggles my mind how the price seems to rise exponentially for that kind of size. I would rather buy a car or a house with that kind of money, than just a screen :)

Any compatibility with home automation like Home Assistant? I would also love to do this behind a projector screen and it's 120 inches... does the interface let you adjust the number of LEDs?
@ChrisMaherDIY3 ай бұрын
It does have google and alexa support so i'm sure there is some compatibility with home assistant but I have not personally tried it out. No support for that size yet. Hopefully they will since a projector setup would be epic. No interface for adjusting the number of leds so it must do that automatically behind the scenes once they are cut!

I have the same question; I have a DIY using Raspberry Pi and Hyperion and have created automations to turn on/off with Harmony Remote when Kodi starts which is great. So I'm wondering if this box works with Home Assistant? Do you need to manually turn on/off FancyBox, or does it turn on when you turn the Xbox, Apple TV, etc on?
@CodCodliness3 ай бұрын
Home Assistant integration is on the list for them, something that's been talked about for a while, but they've been busy pumping out new lights and upgrades to the boxes. Hopefully that'll be a quite soon realised feature.

Damn, this makes anime look even more amazing. I hope it looks just as good without the TV being mounted. Since I rent, I want to avoid damaging the walls as much as possible, so I've not mounted mine (repainting the wall also means contending with my living room's 15 or 20ft ceiling...and given how chaotic moving can be, I want to add as little extra stuff as possible).

How well does it switch between inputs? I haven't seen any videos about that. Does it do a good job auto switching or do you sometimes need to use the app to switch them?

So, question...My current setup has one HDMI run from my TV through the wall down to my surround sound system (HDMI ARC), and each hdmi input connects to the surround sound system. If I were to purchase this, would I install it in between the TV and surround sound, or hook up each hdmi input to the sync box and then one output to the surround sound and then keep the hdmi arc to and from the tv?

I’m also looking for this info… and if audio codecs such as Dolby Atmos will passthrough…
@clarkknowlen748Ай бұрын
@ they responded to me via email, and said that “while they have not tested the device with every audio interface possible, they have not encountered any that don’t still allow ARC functionality” The company said that either of my proposed configurations should work just fine.

Hello. I like this but am concerned with the lighting movements matching the action sequences. DS for example. Are there options in the app to lock in static lighting as opposed to dynamic?
@PauloOredaАй бұрын
Iguess that the sync does not work for content that is derectly played on the Tv without an external device, right? For example with the native netflix app that comes loaded on the Tv
@Luggi83Ай бұрын
Yes you guessed right. The device analyses to HDMI signal that passes through. As theres is no signal when you use the built-in apps there's nothing for the device to analyse.

What would be the optimal distance between the TV and the wall for a nice diffusion of the lights? I assume if it's too close then we might see individual lights, if its too far we lose position details. Can you share what that distance is for you? Great video btw! :)

I'm fine with 7" from the wall. Any closer and it seems too direct off the wall.

Is there anything similar on the market (in terms of color accuracy and response time) that supports Displayport 2.1 or with a box that get's the color information via USB? I want to use it with a PC, on the 57 inch Samsung 32:9 monitor. So HDMI 2.1 is not an option.

Pretty cool video, does anyone know if the product will also work when the tv is mountet directly at the wall? I have an LG Oled GX Series, so there is no space between the tv and the wall, i think the stripe must then be mountet on the side of the tv, instead of behind?

As incredible of a product as this is for a normal consumer who wants a simple ambilight solution, it won’t satisfy my needs if you can’t add in other instances of lights into the ambilight setup. For instance I bought led tube fixtures off of amazon stripped them down and put in my own led strips to use with wled, thanks to Hyperion and wled I am able to have those fixtures, which are mounted on each side of my tv, become part of my ambilight setup. Although it took a lot of trial and error and many pieces to the puzzle to get everything to work I’m essentially able to continuously add more lights to the setup. So I fully agree with the others who are mentioning Govee if they can adapt a similar product being able to have your whole room sync with a simple ambilight box will be a game changer and save me a lot of space behind my tv.
