For this sword, I explored a different way to make the handle, that was turned on a lathe, and then cut into an oval to align with the blade. Gotta have that alignment! The handle was generally based on Aragorn's ranger sword from LOTR.

Awesome! Everyone makes fun of me for making wooden swords, but I like it. Its fun and rewarding. I like to make simple ones and leave them in parks and stuff for kids to find, behind bushes or between rocks. I also make much more intricate ones I copy from some of the games I play or TV shows I see. Love how you made this one!

This sword is almost perfect, so no worries about the crossguard. The oval shape of the handle is a true thing in swords, and your way of doing it was really simple. As always, it is a great pleasure watching your craftmanship. Good job, keep it coming 😉

Got my nephew for the day tomorrow he wants to make a sward. I was in the workshop this afternoon roughly dimensioning a piece of ash into parts for hand guard and blade. Awesome video I’m going to be simplifying it and trying to mainly use hand tool. Tomorrow but this has definitely given me some ideas.

Great video, please can you do a mini coffee table that folds away and is easily stored, also next time you are making a sword handle, experiment with different woods as some are more easier to carve and make into an oval,if you are ever going to make a coffee table then I recommend purple heart for the table top as it is very hard and difficult to be chipped and looks beautiful, especially with Danish wood oil, check it out
