Hey ***** if you remember I tweeted you asking if Gionee E7 is better or the HTC Desire 816? I used both the phones. And finally decided to go for the HTC Desire 816. The Gionee E7 is a beast when it comes to specifications, but the hardware quality and the sound output isn't that great. The camera tho is fine. (The reasons why I let it go) And the HTC 816, even having the poly-carbonate body, feels premium, the camera is awesome, sound output (external as well as through headphones is excellent) and the 4.4.2 KitKat makes is even amazing. Thank you for the review of this phone. Happy to see an Indian reviewer who actually reads what questions his viewers have for him. And tries his best to answer them. Stay awesome Gotham! Cheers!

You can enable the developer options which can give some more features and some more rights in HTC Desire 816. Just go to settings-about-software information-more and just tap 2 3 times on build number.

hi sir, i'm having alot of trouble tryind to adjust with the dual sim settings. there is no settings by which i can make my calls and messages to be used up by a particualr sim slot. whenever i try to use hangouts or other 3rd party apps that requires to send message then it automatically uses the sim slot 1 as a default but i want the sim slot 2 to used for messaging and calling and sim slot 1 for only browsing the internet. Please kindly guide me in this. i desperately need a solution to it.

I would say if given a choice I would go with the Desire 816 over the T2 Ultra, I cannot comment about Alcatel's devices or the Idol X+ also I have no plans to review that idol X+ as of now.

Hi Ranjit. Greetings for the day! I am looking to buy a phablet in a day or two and I would be extremely grateful if you could help me out. Since I need a dual sim device, and my budget is around INR 20k, I've zeroed upon Grand 2 and Desire 816. But, I'm a bit skeptical about the desire 816, since I have got a hands on with Grand 2 but not with the Desire due to stock issues. So a few questions : Is the Desire 816 usable with a single hand, specially with the Power button position it has? Can the Desire 816 resize the keyboard like TouchWIz does?(I was able to manage Grand 2 with single hand) As I saw in your review, the back of Desire is scratch prone, and a fingerprint magnet, Is the case same with the screen? If we add a protective cover, will the device become uncomfortably hefty? How is the display of Desire 816 when compared to Grand 2, specially viewing angles and sunlight legibility? And what is the behavior of on-screen buttons on Desire? (I saw Dead trigger not taking up full screen and also in another review, KZbin didn't go full screen). Isn't immersive mode working properly? Can desire receive calls on SIM 2 while using data on SIM 1 and vice-versa? Just confirming, I saw that slot 2 is 2G only. It means we won't be able to make SIM 2 3G and SIM 1 2G like we can in Samsung, right? I personally feel that Grand 2 is a more user-friendly and better dual sim device than the Desire 816. (I could be wrong as I haven't taken the Desire in my hand). Also, Grand 2 is getting KitKat very soon. So, is it worth spending an extra Rs. 4000 for Desire's better processor and camera? TIA

As it as a non user replacable battery sometimes it does get hang. So in that case wat should be done because the mobile comes to a stand still and till the battery gets exhausted I can't use
