Anyone else not surprised at all the Mandolorians used nukes?
@archsteel73 жыл бұрын
Anyone who's played KOTOR likely isn't. I love the Mandalorian, it's a great show, and it's a fair depiction of the "Modern Mandalorian." Essentially just a gun for hire, with a code of honor... But it does give people a this skewed perception that Mandalorians are necessarily good people. I think my favorite instance of a character commenting on it is Bao-Dur from KOTOR 2, where he asks "Mandalore" why the Mandalorians bombed civilians. And Mandalore's response was just to say that "The Republic wasn't taking us seriously." And that they killed millions of civilians just to make the republic fight them in all-out combat.
@skarloey23343 жыл бұрын
@@archsteel7 i don't think anyone with some knowledge about the mandalorians wouldn't be too surprised if at all, regardless if they played kotor.

Yeah, the Crusaders crossed a few lines. In their minds putting military bases in or around cities made the cities a fair target. Many of their rules regarding warfare were surprisingly civilized. Problem was they didn't share the answers with outsiders and got a little... vengeful when others ignored them.
@Mysikrysa3 жыл бұрын
@@archsteel7 A warmongering psycho like these could hardly be a relatable protagonist in a show "for kids". The point is the Mandalorian society evolved, there were already pacifist, neutral Mandos in TCW vs. warmongering Mandos of Death Watch. Both of them were too extreme. They needed ballance, just like the Force. After the Great Purge the remnants of Mandos can´t nuke anyone even if they wanted because they were almost completely annihilated. They became good people because they were forced to become good people by the circumstances. Starting another conflict would not help them. Or at least Din´s clan became good people because I don´t see Bo-Katan as a good person, rather like the same old Death Watch scum she was in the past.
@archsteel73 жыл бұрын
@@Mysikrysa Of course, that's why I said the show was a great example of the "Modern Mandalorian." Obviously the culture has evolved and changed over time. Hell, the Mandalorian species no longer even exists as far as I'm aware, so it's safe to say the Mandalorians are not the same thing they were during the Crusades. I'm just saying that people have the wrong idea about the Mandalorians if they think they were always honorable space cowboys. Also, minor note, Din's clan is a cult and also ex-deathwatch. You can see it on their clan symbol, they're as much a remnant of Deathwatch as Bo is.

Video game idea: Basically a Star Wars Borderlands where the main (or close 2nd) stars of the show are the different weapons. Here’s the catch: it takes place during the original or sequel trilogy era, but it’s on a backwater outer rim territory that still has weapons from the Old Republic era and all the eras up to the story’s present. The older more primitive weapons from thousands of years ago are the most common at lower levels, but as you advance in money and story you climb the weapons as your collection gets more and more advanced. You go through slug throwers, disrupters, needlers, the whole 9 yards, taking weapons from the Old Republic era all the way to the Skywalker saga near the end. Different weapons and ammo types would have different strengths and weaknesses similar to elemental values in borderlands (some red would have an anti flesh fire like damage, yellow ricochet, orange combustion, blue would be extra effective against droids, purple homing, green extra powerful against vehicle armor, white against shields, sonic does extra damage to creatures with enhanced senses like hearing-etc). Naturally they could be altered to be more armor piercing vs hollow point (or the laser equivalent). It would show the evolution of weaponry throughout the millennia of the galaxy’s history and create a perspective as you cobble together schizo tech to make it off your 3rd world planet. Ps: be neat if the incorporated material from legends, like Vong bio armor and weapons. Might make a good dlc or sequel.

My favorite weapon in Star Wars? Well, it initially was something specifically developed for “the Old Republic”’s Mercenary/Commando: healing shots. Basically, as a Mercenary, I’d shoot healing rounds from my blaster pistols or, as a Commando, something similar from my heavy blaster. In real life, I’ve helped develop the Bacta Bullet, a pistol round that consists of an absorbent material, preferably a wet stone, soaked in an anti-infectious solution & is propelled by compressed air OR some other non-flammable propellant. Paramedics, especially military medics, can use these rounds to administer first aid, but can also be used to shoot an assailant & potentially kill ‘em, it all depends on which part of the body receives the shot… Maybe do a video that covers this…

It's really ironic that the most illegal weapon in the galaxy is a non-lethal stunner... Like the disruptor rifle I (sort of) understand. But a purposefully non-lethal device? That would be like a taser becoming the most illegal thing in the United States.

@@jmejia6569 True, still there's a certain amount of irony in the no nukes policy when you consider the whole list of ridiculous super weapons in the old EU days or even stuff like Starkiller base in the Sequels. Nuclear radiation was like a bad cold compared to some of the ways they had to wreck a world. Taris in the KOTOR timeline comes to mind as does Centerpoint Station and the Vong literally body checking a planet with it's own moon. Hell don't forget the Rahkghoul Plague either.

Blaster pistol: Again not sure, but I'll go with that mandalorian blaster pistol, it's pretty cool. Blaster: E-11D Blaster rifle: DC-15A Light repeating blaster: TL-50 heavy repeater(name is confusing, but it seems pretty light and carry-able, so whatever) Heavy repeating weapon: Z-6 rotary cannon Shotgun: SX-21 scatterblaster What about you guys?

Weapon not regulated because it is considered _not too dangerous:_ *MWC-35c "Staccato Lightning" repeating cannon* - Baze's Minigun from Rogue One. Openly carried in a city currently under Imperial martial law, by a retrenched temple guard. [As far as totalitarian governments go, the Empire is not that effective… North Korea doesn't allow civilians to have Miniguns]. Imagine if Wookies decided to use those instead of BowCasters …? Just add a bit of wood panelling to the stock, the power pack could almost be a bum bag for a Wookie.

Verpine shatter guns were generally banned for common civilian use outside of verpine space and military/private military use due to their ability to pierce most known combat armors from plastoid to durasteel and many shielding types without energy sheathing. Plus even the pistols held comparable but not equal power to the rifles. I'd love to see an indepth look at Verpine weapons in general. The shatter guns get so little love.

I get the whole idea behind the unique tech like blasters in star wars, but realistically they should include more standard ballistic weapons as well, it's just science, like a regular gun would rip right through a clone troopers armor or any "deflection" type blaster defense armor. Infact a regular bullet would most likely be highly effective at getting through energy shielding as well, the solid material would probably pass through it or at least overwhelm it if full auto, like in alot of games the counter to energy shields is to overload it with high rate of rapid fire from Gatling type auto cannons.

just gonna point out that civilians who fight the cis should really have been allowed the droidkiller weapons. Anyone fighting an army of droid regardless of civilian or military should have been issued one imho. would have made the cis think hard about fighting with droids and probably done a heck of a lot more damage on average. Verpine droid disrupter, a small handheld weapon could do more damage than the standard issue clone weaponry. Imagine if a couple of these could stop a heilfire droid in its tracks. How many clone lives could have been saved?
