There is a mod for bf2 called "the exiles voyage" and there is a unit called the inquisitorium dark trooper. They took a whole clip from a rifle to take down, they had an electrostaff and a rapid machine gun. They are nightmares to take down, and fun to play as :)

In 1995 I played Dark Forces Dark Troopers (Legends). The game was so intense, I've been Doom and other FPS, but nothing like this. Normal game tactics didn't work. I had to develop guerrilla warfare. It didn't stop the nightmares I began to have. Many years later Mandalorian season 2. The first mention of the Dark Troopers, my blood ran cold. I envied the young fans who didn't know what Hell was coming, but soon they will. Then they were spared the nightmares thanks to Master Luke Skywalker, he made the DT look like soup cans.

lol this isn't "dark" by Warhammer 40k terms its just a Thursday. Especially because these "dark troopers" are totally just a copy of the Iron Hands FROM Warhammer 40k. And yes i just googled the dates as far as when the ideas came out; Warhammer 40k has 16 years on the dark troopers, battlefront came out in 2004 the idea of Iron Hands space marines being mostly cybernetic and clad in baroque black armor is from 1988... Total Ripoff. BUT as king Solomon said: "their is nothing new under the sun" everything is just a copy and edit from something that came before this is just quite blatant to any Warhammer fan.

I don't know why half the (lore knowledgeable) fanbase jumped on the "Legends sucks" or "It's unorganized fanfic garbage" bandwagon, when LucasFilms made an organized ND constantly updated novel and comic timeline. Fucks just mad that the story doesn't turn out how they want it to or are simply to "simple" to enjoy a richer and thiccer storytelling experience. Show anyone stuff from SWTOR and they'll either say it looks pretty cool or will say it looks too much like TCW (era) and bad with trash reasons for their assessment. Our fanbase got toxic as shit back in the 2000's with the release of The Prequels but started to mellow out with new EU content. But once again, that goddamn "EU sucks" bandwagon got moving again when the strange/interesting but refreshing New Jedi Order series began along with Star Wars: Legacy's comic series. The reason we're stuck with this blasphemous NuCanon is because the casuals, bandwagon haters, and religiously strict to movie fans couldn't grow the fuck up ! It is also very plausible that Disney didn't feel like paying royalties to the authors and developers (that deserved it) for new content including their work. Another is that the task in updating the colossal amount of casuals in the Star Wars community with movies based off of Legends stories could prove unsuccessful since most have never attempted to read (or further explore) comics, games, and novels from the Expanded Universe. But I honestly find my latter explanation bullshit. Even the most average Joe can find something interesting in Legends. There is literally something in all that content that anyone of whatever genre would like. We got Death Troopers/Blackwing Virus for those Horror lovers, X-Wing novel series for those starfighter/pilot lovers, Star Wars Dark Horse Comics in general for those dark, gritty, and (mostly) realistic story lovers, and Pre/Old Republic content for those lore nerds that like history, and etc. Everyday I find Disney/LucasFilms excuse of no "Creative Freedom" and "Cluttered history/stories" more and more idiotic bullshit. Fuckers were lazy, cowards, and financially greedy with ever growing egos and didn't want to continue and enhance the EU because they just didn't see a stable profit with simple content for the masses. But look at us now. Oh how I know those die-hard Legends haters are just looking at this NuCanon. I won't be a 100% Canon hater though. I do prefer the Canon to of Darth Maul's fate over Legends and the Darth Vader comics are surprisingly creative but at times spits all over previously established lore... I'm sorry for unleashing all my pent up fury in this long ass comment but I had to say something. If you see me as a salty O.G. (though I'm only 18) that can't let go of the past and has the blind nostalgia shades on, I'm sorry. I just can't except this NuCanon over Legends after how bad they've butchered the Universe I spent years into knowing all too well...

my most vivid memory of dark troopers is from star wars galactic battlegrounds. those things are NOT balanced in the slightest. For the same price they can take down jedi masters with ease. I think that the dev conversation when like this. "what if we make the empire faction have the cheapest air forces in the game?" "yeah okay we will make them like 10% cheaper" "hehe 10% that's cute, how about 33% making it by far the most powerful faction in the air?" "yeah okay sure and while we are at it why not make them have infantry so powerful that no other factions best infantry unit can even get close to them, for only a tiny little price increase? "oh my god that's amazing, yes, lets do it." "wait no I was joking." "AND WE WILL LET THEM UPGRAID THEM TO PHASE 2 MAKING IT BY FAR THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE GROUND UNIT IN THE GAME." Sorry just had to let over 10 years of frustration out. Those things haunt me.
