To me, it's actually sickening when the only gift he could thought of was a beauty powder. He knew how 'cold' the cold palace is that could destroy her beauty. Took a pity on the forstbite on her hand. No dude, her soul is the one that broken the most. You could see the tiredness and disappointment in her eyes, theres no love anymore. She gave up on the man before her. She felt enough of everything. I don't care how different that man built as emperor, that doesn't mean ruyi should tolerate his doings again and again. That doesn't mean that ruyi's pain isn't valid, that she shouldn't feel disappointed. Kudos for the actress, she actually brought this character alive. I feel hurt for her too. She talk less, but her gestures and eyes spoke volume. Her acting is oscar worthy. And actually, all of the cast in this drama all have superb acting. They did well for their roles. The palace setting, the costums, the make up, everything. What a great work, my forever favourite chiness drama.

Did you watch the actual show on Amazon? The Emperor knew of the comings and goings of the cold palace, he put Ling Yunche there and knew of her making money, and knew the royal physician was seeing her. He okayed it all, he didnt just abandon her, and went to see her when she was poisoned and knew he had to hurry her out. These clips don't do the series justice. However he really couldn't just tend to her with so many on her neck and his stepmom talking about justice too. The ending though😔😔😔😔😔 I wanted them to win.

For me, its a 50-50 for me for the Emperor's personality on how he handles these kinds of matters. Sadly, he did. This is why, I told myself, that if time traveling were to be physically possible, almost like in Doctor Who, but different in many ways. I would love to travel in time, without the physical of aging (not like a time Lord, but very different) I would love to have a chat with each person at certain points, before their death’s. And if whatever is magical written down, would stay forever as their point of words and memories and whatever regrets they had, before their untimely deaths and demise. I'm no chemistry expert but I was a bit horrified to know, ( if this film is actually based on historical facts ) that powder make up for noble women in those days had lead components in it. Love this series, by the way. Especially the leading lady.

You mean, tv show. Also, it’s not entirely base on historical facts. The deaths that actually happened, did physically happened. The only thing this show is base on, is a book. So, nearly 70 to 80% of it, is fully base on fiction, while the remaining parts is base on some facts and close to behind as possible to some historical facts that could been documented or whatever information that is available. It’s like when they say “base on a true story” for some films, people forget to note that “base on true story” won’t alway be entirely true. Only taking 30% or under, are from actual facts, accounts and references and research. Almost like Elivs that is almost 60% of it, is true, but the remaining parts could be misleading.

I guess a long time ago,he researched the ingredients might have been him discovering cosmetics from around the world.China is known for using flowers or herbs for cosmetics and beauty care. Lead seems to be used frequently by people from other continents.I am quite suprised that lead was in this makeup at that time of period but then lead wasn't yet confirmed to be dangerous for the people that time.He might have meant well...but damn it was fucked up💀.
