Geissele 11.5” URGI Near Clone unboxing & Build plan

After years of building upper receivers I decide I wanted to start checking out factory complete uppers. With the URG-I coming in my favorite length of 11.5" it was easy decision to check it out. Geissele utilizes their 10.5" MK16 rail on a "G" Geissele marked upper. The 11.5" barrel is chome moly, chrome lined, 1:7 twist 5.56 Nato and does have the MP markings. Geissele tops these off with a Surefire four prong open tine flash hider. The BCG is their reliability Enhanced. Included with the URG-I is a URG-I patch and a Super 42 buffer system (for 11.5" they included an H3). Overall length for this upper receiver package come in at 20.6".

Yea I have a number of older rails without the steel QD reinforcement. Wish there was a way to add it. Really want to pick one of these up at some point. Love my Geissele stuff as you know!

Only the 14.5 and 10.3 come with the nsn number from what I've been told.

Its odd about the H3. I have two 11.5s and one came with an H2 and one and H3. About 9 months apart in purchasing.

Geissele has a chart of buffer weights they recommend per length and if suppressed or not. 10.5-11.5” they say could be either H2 or H3 unsuppressed. Suppressed they recommend H3. I tend to still run H2 Suppressed for reliability if I were to run it without my can. Maybe Geissele made assumption most are running suppressed or H3 was just more available.

​@itsmillartime6916 H2s have served me well in mine suppressed with RC2 and reliable. What's another odd thing is on one 11.5 URGI an H3 runs reliably and shoots soft and amazing suppressed and unsuppressed howeverin my other 11.t URGI (IDENTICAL) while unsuppressed with an H3 runs reliably but doesn't lock back on last round. Suppressed it does. Which makes me wonder why I got sent an H2 and H3 with different URGI 11.5 from them.
