It gives people more freedom to play how they want with the character, which is why a lot of people ive seen want the rest of the cast to be like Sol, to have that freedom

I just like jumping over Sols Heavy Mob Cemetery in Strive. In my levels (floor 4, Im new to FGs), Sol players just dont expect people to know how to counter/dodge this super, so seeing them stand still for like half a second always makes me giggle and stay in a good mood, even if I lose the set.

@@BRAZILIAN_MIKU The long and short of it now is that sol's probably no longer top 5 due partially because of nerfs but mostly because of other characters getting really good buffs as well as the addition of new characters that are able to stuff sol out more effectively As far as changes to sol specifically that are notable, pushback on his standing normals and some of his specials were increased so now his most basic Gatling is inconsistent at it's furthest range and his most basic block string is no longer true or safe at most ranges Bandit revolver is now a manual rekka making his carry potential much stronger off of certain confirms but both hits are unsafe on block and whiff 2D now combos into bandit revolver because it was basically a dead button with not much reward to it 2S is now larger and more disjointed making it a much more important neutral tool despite it's recovery Basically, he has to make riskier gambles to maintain pressure and keep presence in neutral but his damage has remained largely unchanged if not improved in some cases

Preemptively throwing out those normals is particularly risky because Sol has some of the best mid range buttons in the game in terms of reward, range, ease of hit confirms, *and* priority. The risk-reward is ALWAYS heavily in Sol’s favor and he is nowhere near bad enough in any game state to justify it. This goes without saying, but that all goes for pre-patch Sol.

13:28 Sol does have weaknesses, specially after the nerfed fS and 6S. He has a lot of trouble dealing with strong lows and 6S is easy to whiff punish (startup is literally 15 frames). While 5k is a strong move is a very localized hitbox, the 3 frame part of the hit is even shorter than chips 3 frame punch and the other hit box is very high up so it misses against a lot of 2k style moves. Sol to cover that space he needs to use 2k, which only combos into 6S on Crouch counterhit and 2k - > 2D misses more likely than not. Now about fS, if you got gatling frame trapped, that's on the sol that read your button, if you keep getting reset by it there's an 8frame gap so you can 2k/6p the normals (pot can't but he can just potbuster you instead). Also, if you look at the hitbox of 5h, it's also a hitbox that hits very high so the sol player has to hit a manually timed 3 frame window otherwise 6ps will go through. About fafnir you got knocked down, it's my committal oki option, you can dp/invincible super through it on wakeup and if you were just sleeping too much that's on you. There's more I'd talk about what spaces Sol has trouble getting through but this is way too long. I had hope that this was a sneaky way of teaching how to deal with him rather than just a twitter rehash. You'd done better. Please do more research next time

few things from an ex-sol main, few points to share: 1. 5P is 5 frames, leaving him tied with a vast majority of the cast. It's not a big deal. 2. Sol's 5K combos go further than flat 200. IIRC if you're in the corner you can hit around 250 with meter, but yes 111 meterless and anywhere on the screen is stupid. 3. While 623HS's raw damage is stupid, what's even more stupid is it's damage scaling in combos. It's often used before wallsplat in combos, being the last couple hits but still doing minimally another 60 damage, being a huge contributor to his meterless cS optimal corner combo doing 272 damage. 4. 6S is pretty slow at 15 frames. it's probably just that 5K has alot of hitstun for what it is to let it combo into 6S. 5. Another insane thing about 236K is the corner carry it brings, letting sol pressure you even more with his fS and cS and deal his absurd corner damage. And lastly, 6. 214K is also really stupid in that the air version, when used high in the air can be delayed by holding K and it was super ambiguous where he'd land. So punishing it is a pain. Thankfully in the 1.09 patch, sol's had some of the more frustrating things toned down like faultless defense invalidating fS pressure, but he can combo using RC off wild throw and get 200 damage combos midscreen so uhhhhh EDIT: Checked dustloop wiki to factcheck some stuff and my bad, 5P is 4 frames. Still the least of your problems on sol. Also, 5K corner combo does 212. Not much more than 200 so I'd say that's invalidated on my end
