Hello again Nitsa ****. You forgot to mention that the image needs to be TONER - BASED i.e., photocopy or laser prints. I was so thrilled when I first "discovered`' all of your wonderful videos sharing with us how to do toner based transfers using acrylic paint and a gelli plate (or even a homemade gelatin plate). I have so far made 11 attempts and none have been successful as you can appreciate that is kind of disappointing. best wishes. Aine

Oh whoops! You're correct, the book doesn't feature gel printing (it was written before I developed Mt gel printing process). I'm pretty sure you can return the book to Amazon 👍

Sherry, that's a great question!! Thank you ❤️ When I first came up with the idea to transfer my photos with a gel plate it took me many many hours, to get the first good print. At the begining just about half of the transfers worked. Now it always works but esthetically I only like a few of them.

Nitsa! I've been trying EVERYTHING to get any transfer of a laser printout to show on my gel plates with zero success so far. I have a cheap laser printer and have tried on both fresh and long-dried prints as well as prints with heavier toner density running the print through two and three times, still not a bit transfers to the plate. I've tried using thin and thick layers of dark paint on the plate to receive the image, but no luck either way. I've tried pulling the print off the plate right away and after being fully dried out in the paint, nothing shows, not a trace. Maybe my brand of gel plate isn't "sticky" to grab the toner? Maybe the paper I printout on holds the toner too strongly? I've tried printing to the shiny side of freezer paper to hope it sits on top for that reason. Still NOTHING! My printer uses toner ink cartridges, so I am left assuming my printouts are the required "toner-based" prints? Any clarification on whether that's true? (It's a Brother model HL L2320D). I've watched many other tutorials to see if there's something I'm missing but have no more ideas to try. The only thing I can think of is the possibility of the brand of toner my machine uses. I've been using the E-Z Ink (3rd party) toner refill cartridges in the Brother printer, which work perfectly for office prints but will NOT come off onto the gel plate! But have no idea what other machine or toner cartridge I can buy to get better results for transferring. I can't buy every brand in my country and still have no luck. Any ideas what might work? It's a great technique and I so wish I could crack the code to do it!

Yes, however the photo editing video is part of the online class, so it's not available on KZbin. But generally speaking I make sure to print my photos darker than the original and with more contrast.

Hi Nitsa, I bought the same laser printer as you and use the same Amsterdam paints, but am VERY frustrated that I can't get an image to transfer to the plate. Instead the paint just sticks to the image on printing paper and ruins the printout. Do you know what I could be doing wrong?? I would very much appreciate some help! Thank you so much! Hi Mary, it's very difficult to tell what's the issue without seeing the exact steps in your process 🤷🏼‍♀️ My advice is to try changing things around in your process. Sometimes it can be something simple like too much or too little paint 😃 Good luck!! 👍

I'm trying to get this to work. Using an HP B+W laser, printing onto normal copy paper. I've printed a high contrast black and white photo. When I put the paper with the printed image onto the gel plate it just picks up all the ink off the plate, leaving no image on the plate. What paper do you put through your laser printer? I'm going to order some Amsterdam paint, is it the standard quality that you use? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Same here, I used my toner based laser printer, and I tried numerous times, different paints, more paint, less paint, darker laser image and each time the paper with the image absorbed all the paint, but left no image behind on the gelli plate. I have not figured out why it isn’t working for me. Frustrating, because it’s a cool technique for art journaling.
