I have used gel pens quite a bit in Johanna Basford’s Lost Ocean and her other earlier books that had lots of tiny details. Then I got hold of Prismas and Polychromos and fell so in love with those, lol. I haven’t used gel pens in so long I kinda forgot about them, I should get them out because I have sets of very nice gel pens just sitting in my art cabinet. Thanks for the reminder, you showed some lovely tips and combos. Thank you Isabel ❤️

Nice video. I have a hard time blending, even with my Gelly Rolls. I always have a line where I try to blend. Guess I just need to practice some more.

Dawn Fehr Thank you dear ❤️❤️ And I agree, I Also gets lines where I try to blend sometime...
@NoDontLikeIt5 жыл бұрын
That’s my problem too-I get very noticeable lines. I get frustrated with gel pens, especially, because I don’t know how to fix the issues like lines. And the more I try, the worse I make it lol. But you’re right, more practice probably helps.
@DADA-ir6kq3 жыл бұрын
@@NoDontLikeIt one way to have less lines is when you paint in double layers. Either put "Neon" or "Normal" or even "Glitter" in the lower layer. Then let it dry, then put a glitter layer on top. You can broaden your color palette as well. For example if you put a neon pink under a glitter pink it will pop even more. And because you have more color on the paper, it will not have so many lines. But make sure that the paper is thick enough or has no picture on its backside.

@@DADA-ir6kq thanks, I’ll try that.

I am a beginner and I need suggestions for a good set of gel pens that will glide easily that I can order thru Amazon for a good price. Thanks!

Hello! Sorry for late reply! I wish I could help but I mostly but my gelpens in local art/book/toy stores so I Have not tested a lot of those brands available on Amazon... I think Gelly rolls ate the best I Have tested but They are not cheap.
@terriwickstrom76284 жыл бұрын
I got some gel pens from Walmart and find that they are scratchy does that mean they aren't that good? I find it hard to smooth out the gel, it doesn't go far. I wonder if I would have better luck with a better brand? Where would I find your answer?
@passionistacolorista95764 жыл бұрын
Hello! Gelpens that is Scratchy are the worse 😫 A lot gelpens are NOT Scratchy but some unfortunately are....
@passionistacolorista95764 жыл бұрын
I think Gelly rolls are much better - They are almost never Scratchy!!

What gel pens do you recommend
@passionistacolorista95764 жыл бұрын
I must say that i Have not tested so many brands but Gelly rolls are the best of the ones I Have tried. They are not cheap but Have a great flow and great shine/sparkle. (The only ones I don’t like are the Gelly roll White) Zebra gel pens are also good, but Have a slightly broader tip. United Office is a brand with good gel pens aswell but I don’t know if They can be Found online. Arteza’s gelpens are also ok!

I love that they smear, I use it as a technique for blending and layering. Like the stained glass effect in the picture: instagram.com/p/CK4DtyqBEbb/?igshid=1ta4pqf5ur9bd
