As an rx8 owner who has ventured down the forced induction route, they are money pits, but the fundamental problem is that people stance them and ruin the best part about them, or they expect to pay 1000 or less to fix a clapped out car. They are down on power, and expensive to maintain, and the biggest redeeming factor is their handling and driving experience. Widebody rx8s are terrible drivers. Meanwhile an NA, stock body, good compression and well sorted rx8 is incredible. As for his asking price, it’s too high. Rx8 owners are cheap. And a sucker will inevitably pay for it and put the minimal amount possible and it’ll change hands 3-4 times and then it’ll get parted out. A new REBUILT motor is 7k and crate Renesis motors are nearing 10k. People message the few good rotary builders and absolutely WASTE their time trying to rebuild a motor that’s got warped housings for 2500. I see more and more people buy these cars because they are cheap, and expect them to be cheap to fix and maintain. They are expensive. They always will be expensive. It’s so difficult to justify selling modified cars because unless they are well sorted and are tasteful, and really drive well, they sit and get lowballed. Once cheap cars like this get widebodied, it doesn’t matter what the milage is, it’s never going to perform to the same level as a stock body NA car focused on driving experience
